Team XBOX predicts the winner of the console race. Link. (http://editorials.teamxbox.com/xbox/1697/A-Look-Into-the-Crystal-Ball/p1/) It is a really interesting read, they go out of their way to say nice things about the PS3 so not to appear to biased. I definitely see most of their predictions coming true.

I agree with their article.

In the US and Europe the 360 will come out on top with the Wii in 2nd and the PS3 in 3rd.

In Japan the Wii will come out on top with the PS3 in 2nd and the 360 in a distant 3rd.

But worldwide the 360 will probably wind up selling the most consoles. Inna boutta na!

I really doubt the Wii will come in 2nd world wide (which would happen based on that prediction). I can almost guarantee Nintendo will be 3rd again. The real question is between Microsoft and Sony.

In regard to portables (I know this is about consoles, but bear with me)...
Even with the HUGE demand for the DS in Japan, the gap has almost completely closed in world-wide sales of DS and PSP. The DS (according to a source I can't view here at work so I can't provide the link, but you can find it on psp.ign.com) has sold 21 million world wide so far. The PSP has shipped 20 million.

Now Sony is going to do the downloadable PS1 games, cut the price of the system, lower the average cost of PSP games by 10 dollars, have another GTA game coming out, and offer three waves of 19.95 PSP Greatest Hits games all in this year. Nintendo has Starfox coming soon, but I don't see much else on the horizon I'm at all interested in. Nintendo still has a chance to keep up the steam, but it looks like the predictions of PSP coming out on top just might come true.

I have had a lot more fun with my DS than with my PSP up till now, now I don't play either hardly at all. If neither is putting out new "big" titles, then I think it will be based on features and near price comparison. If the PSP is only 30 dollars more but offers considerably more features, that creates a huge problem for Nintendo.

I hope they don't get too cocky and they need to stop concentrating all their attention on the Wii, the DS seems to be hurting as a result now (their proven money maker)! That's just me tho.

**EDIT: Sony's statement on units shipped is compared to Nintendo's units sold.

Every time I hear Crystal Ball I think of the same thing I've thought of upon hearing it for years and years.
