I heard a lot of people are looking forward to the Wii from this site. My wife is getting me one but I'm going to have a harder time picking which titles I want from release... Most of the games I want won't be launch titles, sadness.
There are only 18 confirmed launch titles at this point, but Nintendo said what, 27 will be available? Here's the list of 100% confirmed...
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII Ubisoft Romania Ubisoft
Call of Duty 3 Treyarch Activision
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors Square Enix Square Enix
Far Cry Ubisoft Ubisoft
Gottlieb Pinball Classics System 3 System 3
GT Pro Series MTO Ubisoft
Leaderboard System 3 System 3
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess* Nintendo Nintendo
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance** Raven Software Activision
Metal Slug Anthology SNK Playmore SNK Playmore
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Retro Studios Nintendo
Monster 4x4 World Circuit Ubisoft Ubisoft
Open Season Ubisoft Ubisoft
Rayman Raving Rabbids* ** Ubisoft Montpellier Ubisoft
Red Steel Ubisoft Paris Ubisoft
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz Sega Sega
Trauma Center: Second Opinion Atlus Atlus
Wii Sports Nintendo Nintendo
Out of those, I only really see me getting Metal Slug and Red Steel. I "might" get Zelda, but I've never been a huge Zelda fan. I was looking forward to Mario and the upcoming Mortal Kombat the most (which should be a launch title dammit!). There are other games I see that would be good but I will be getting the multi-platform releases on 360 instead.
Sonic is "supposed" to also be a launch title, but from what I heard, the Wii version will suck. Supposedly you always run, use the Wiimote to move left and right and hit the A button to jump to avoid stuff. That, to me, sounds like the worst Sonic game EVER! If I wanted to do that, I'd just play the bonus levels in Sonic 2 over and over. Sonic for 360 and PS3 will totally destroy that.
So if Sonic is one of the other launch titles, that leaves 8 more to go. I hope there's something good in there that I didn't hear about yet or it will be a very short lived hype phase for me.
I guess the virtual console is gonna heat up with downloads for lack of anything else to play.

I think that Sonic Willdfire is going to be the game to own. I hate the warthog in Sonic 360, plus the white hedgehog is the worst thing I have ever seen. Sonic Wildfire sounds like it is trying to capture the sense of speed from Sonic rush, which is the best Sonic game ever. That wii launch list is horrible, it will be the worst launch lineup ever, at least until the PS3 launches.
Thats a lot of fucking games. Anyways, from that list I will be getting:
Metal Slug Anthology
Trauma Center Second Opinion
Metroid Prime 3
Dragon Quest
Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess
I'm assuming Mario Galaxy will be a launch title as well. And I will totally be getting that too.
Shit, I need to start pre-ordering. Thats $300 worth of games + $200 console = $500.

Mario Galaxy is NOT a launch title. That would be why I didn't list it in my top games. It was delayed till next year. And I thought you thought Metroid Prime was bullshit on Gamecube too... so you're getting 3?
Yeah.. and your $500 is still cheaper than a PS3 with no games :)

*shrugs*
I"m a whore for launch titles. See: Me buying Dead or Alive 4 as my first 360 game. :E
I didn't hate Metroid Prime... I just didn't really care for it. But if the Wii controller makes it easier to aim or something, fuck it, I'll give it a chance.
Sucks about Mario Galaxy being delayed though... thats the main one I was looking forward to. Hopefully Yuji Naka announces NiGHTS for the Wii soon!
Though I will confess that games wise the Wii is already shaping up to be the Gamecube pt. II.

Exactly why I was wondering you said Metroid Prime 3 as opposed to Red Steel (a possible GOOD game :)). Metroid Prime was so boring to me, I forced myself to play it for about 4 hours. I didn't have a single enjoyable moment aside from turning into the ball for the first time. I know it's just my opinion, but hey... with how much I hated that game, why not try to save others money in the process?
I think the game would have been a million times better in 3rd person like Retro originally designed it.
Oh shit! Yeah, I'll be getting Red Steel too.
$550.
Still less than a PS3. :sneak:
But yeah, I actually beat Metroid Prime. Like I said, it was alright, but I didn't care that much for it, hence why I never really played Metroid Prime 2. I'll give 3 a shot in hopes of:
1. It being pretty.
2. Seeing Ridley again (who is one of my fav. video game villians ever)
3. Hopefully it having better controls.
But I agree, I too think it would have been better being in 3rd person. And having to stand still to shoot was just fucking stupid.

Meh... Red Steel will def. be enough for me!
And I will def. get Killer Instinct for the virtual console if Microsoft doesn't hurry up and put up the arcade versions on XBLA!!!

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII Ubisoft Romania Ubisoft: This game sucked on the 360
Call of Duty 3 Treyarch Activision: Not being made by Infinity Ward
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors Square Enix Square Enix: Could be good
Far Cry Ubisoft Ubisoft: Sucked on the 360
Gottlieb Pinball Classics System 3 System 3: Wow pinball
GT Pro Series MTO Ubisoft: meh
Leaderboard System 3 System 3: I have no idea what this is
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess* Nintendo Nintendo: I will be getting this for the GC, tradittional control FTW!
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance** Raven Software Activision: The next gen version looks horrible, I can't even imagine what the wii version will look like
Metal Slug Anthology SNK Playmore SNK Playmore: This will be cool, but it is not a next gen game to get excited for.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Retro Studios Nintendo: Will kick ass I am sure
Monster 4x4 World Circuit Ubisoft Ubisoft: I have not heard anything about this game
Open Season Ubisoft Ubisoft: nothing on this one either
Rayman Raving Rabbids* ** Ubisoft Montpellier Ubisoft: looks meh so far
Red Steel Ubisoft Paris Ubisoft: I will buy this because I love light gun games, but it will suck
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz Sega Sega: should be cool.
Trauma Center: Second Opinion Atlus Atlus: Atlus is one of the best devs on earth, but these types of games do not interest me in the least
Wii Sports Nintendo Nintendo: I thought that wii tennis looked horrible at E3
Indeed! Is KI confirmed to be on the virtual console?
Even if it is... it'll be the SNES version. Hopefully the XBLA version is arcade perfect.
it will be the worst launch lineup ever, at least until the PS3 launches.
Gottlieb Pinball Classics System 3 System 3: Wow pinball
"Wow pinball"?
Necronomicon: Digital Pinball on the Saturn. Thats all I really have to say.
Granted, I doubt the aforementioned game will be half as good. But nothing really is as far as pinball games go. Not even the other pinball games Kaze made.

There aren't many "confirmed" games for the Virtual Console right now... but here's the list for right away...
TurboGrafx-16
Bonk's Adventure
New Adventure Island
R-Type
NES
Super Mario Bros.
SNES
Super Mario World
Genesis
Sonic the Hedgehog
Nintendo 64
Super Mario 64
You know there has to be wayyyy more than that, but as far as I know, that's all that's 100% confirmed.
Games they REALLY need to put on there to make me happy:
NES:
Megaman
Megaman 2
Megaman 3
Megaman 4
Megaman 5
Megaman 6
Battletoads
Contra
SNES
All Mega Man X games
Megaman 7
Megaman & Bass
Donkey Kong Country games
Killer Instinct
Rise of the Robots
Bomberman
Battletoads
Super C
Clayfighter 2
Genesis:
Battletoads & Double Dragon
All Sonic games
Vectorman
Eternal Champions
Clayfighter
Mega Man
N64:
Goldeneye (although Nintendo said it's unlikely)
Killer Instinct Gold
Mortal Kombat 4
Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Pilotwings
And I hope they add 32X, Sega CD, and Saturn to the stuff too for the following:
32X:
Mortal Kombat II (best version of MK2 ever!!!, yes, including the Arcade IMO)
Virtua Fighter
DOOM (One of my favorite versions even though it wasn't full screen)
Sega CD:
Eternal Champions CFTDS
Sonic CD
Spider Man vs the Kingpin
Saturn:
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
NiGHTS
Virtua Fighter 2
Fighters Megamix
House of the Dead
Virtua Cop games
And that would be enough to keep me happy for a LOOOOOOONG time! Although I know I messed up when I opened the door for JP with the Saturn. Ooo, ooo!!! They should add Gameboy and Gameboy Advanced so we could have some more Game Boy Megaman games too!!!!

I have been dying to play a light gun game ever since I bought my HDTV's. I have the light gun for the XBOX, DC, and Saturn but I can't use them. I have watched a lot of footage of Red Steel and it looks okay but they have not addressed the glaring issues with the game and I guess that they never will. Matt, the Nintendo editor at IGN, got to play Red Steel and MP3 and he said that they where both ruined by how slow your character turns using the wiimote. To turn around you point the wiimote at the edge of the screen and the becomes the new center, so you wind up turning 45 degrees at a time. Hopefully this will be fixed in the retail versions but I doubt it. Also in Red Steel when you swing the sword it registers a hit but not the actual path that the blade follows. I have heard that they are going to fix that but until I see it fix I have my doubts.

Why don't they just use the analog stick on the nunchuck attachment for moving and the Wiimote to look around more like a mouse? Sadness!!!
