Part of the reason I'm kinda strapped fo' $$$ lately, but dammit I couldn't pass it up.

Gentlemen, I present to you, my 32nd Saturn:
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/pzykotikjp/saturn2.jpg
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/pzykotikjp/saturn1.jpg

A boxed LE Derby Skeleton Saturn. Not only that, not ONLY is it boxed, its also MODDED! And I LOOOOOOOVE the Skeleton Saturns, and while I have a modded "This is Cool" Saturn, I just had to have a modded Derby Saturn too. :)

Now for the kicker. Why did I buy it? Doesn't really stand out as something I'd go poor for a bit for does it? Well, it was being sold for $105 SHIPPED. Just to clarify, a Derby Stallion boxed would typically go for $250+. But a modded one!? Yes, I had to buy it.

So there you go.

10 (I think) are in my apartment. Lets see:
1 Hitachi Navi HiSaturn
1 Derby Skeleton Saturn
1 modded This is Cool Saturn
2 Gen1 Saturns
1 or 2 Gen2 Saturns
1 modded gray Saturn
1 white JP Saturn

So yeah, 9 or 10 are in my apartment just laying about.

Here at home the other 22 are all boxed up in chests and... well, boxes! I'm waiting until I get a house, then my collection will shift from my parents' home(s) and into my own home, into its own special room where the Saturn can have an entire room to itself (well, the Panzer Dragoon stuff will share the space) and everything else can be in a general gaming room. Hopefully I'll have enough shelf space as I don't even know how many older videogames I have anymore (couple 100 SNES, 100 or so Genesis, 200 or so DC, 50 or so Sega CD, 100s of NES games, etc. etc. etc. Though I don't think any touch the Saturn of which by last count I have 513, 150-200 of which are at my apartment the rest are with my parents).

jp

Technically I guess you could say that there are Japanese sellers with more Saturns than me... but those are typically changing hands so...

Other than that, no, I do not know of anybody that owns more Saturns than me. Not on here, not on neo-geo, and not on assembler. I'm sure there are some fools in Japan and Europe that have bigger Saturn collections than mine though. No doubt in my mind about that. Possibly even in the US, but eh... not so sure on that one. I do own two Navi GPS HiSaturns, and as soon as I secure Heim Waltz and Eyeful Home I should be set on the home front.

I gotta finish buying the 2D shooters first though. :SM14 I don't know why I keep putting that off. Probably because all I have left are shitty Psikyo games. :~

Nice. I like the looks of that Saturn....except for the flaming pink "open" button.

I still wish they would have a released those silver ones they were showing before they finally released it. Those would have been awesome.

My Sega Saturn collecting ended 3 relationships. :disgust:
Videogames in general have ended 6 (including the above). :disgust:

Hopefully the next chicky I hook up with isn't a complete bitch about things like that. I'm like "We AREN'T MARRIED! WHY DO YOU CARE THAT I SPEND X DOLLARS ON THIS ITEM!?" "Because you don't spend that much on me!" "We've been together for 3 months, WHY IN GOD'S NAME WOULD I!?"

Ugh. :disgust: And yes, that conversation actually happened back when I bought Haunted Casino for the Saturn.

jp
12-27-2006, 12:48 PM
No Hunter, I do not own a Neptune. They are findable though, and I believe they typically go for $400-500. Da_Shocker should have a bit more info on that though.

JP you need to find a woman that understands (mostly) your gaming obsession. I will admit if I was buying systems like that there would have been some real problems between me and the wife. For the most part though I am very lucky and she lets me play. Although once we have a kid my gaming budget will shrink to almost nothing......that is when I catch up on all my backlog. ;)

jp
12-30-2006, 01:53 AM
Hunter,
For the time being I have no intentions of getting a Neptune. Rather, if its going to happen, it probably won't be in '07.

Darth,
I have only ever met one chic that gave a shit about my Saturn collection. Sadly, she is currently taken. :. But maybe one day...

cjg,
Thats why I'm not really dating anybody right now. If a chic doesn't do at least SOME of the gaming stuff, at least to the point where they can let me do my thing, then I just don't even bother. Though the chic that broke up with me when I bought the Navi HiSaturn WAS a fan of some shit like Mario Bros. and the DS. :~ I guess spending $1600-1700 on a videogame was a bit much for her. :SM14

Oh well, she was a worthless human being anyways. :.

DarthArcturus

Apparently the Neptune doesn't really exist and only two prototypes that were empty shells were ever made.

So... I'm not sure what I was always seeing on Ebay (or thought I had seen on Ebay). Maybe I got it mixed up with the CDX.

Da_Shocker
01-03-2007, 09:43 PM
The NEptune is the sexiest lookin console ever. But I don't think they are any available. Info has always been scarce about actual units but there are prototypes of X-Men and Virtua Hamster.

jp
01-03-2007, 09:51 PM
I saw a prototype of Virtual Hamster on sale once.

Personally, thats a market I don't really want to touch. Its like Jorge says, its like digging through someone's garbage and giving it value. But to each their own.

DAYUM!

I don't even have one Saturn... :(

*kicks gravel around with the toe of his untied shoe, fumbling fingers behind his back, head pointed so far towards the ground that his chin begins dig into his chest*

As for the girl part, mate, you gotta keep lookin'! I've found myself a lovely young lady that's smart and pretty and owns a fair amount of video games! Sure, she gets annoyed with my babbling sometimes, but she'd never get mad at me for it, and she's always open to playing just about any game, anytime, as long as we get to do it together. Keep lookin'!

Man, I really wish I had one. I found a brand new shiny run-of-the-mill Saturn on eBay around Christmas time, with 5 games including NiGHTS and the 3D Controller. Real slick. But my mom wouldn't let me get it cause it was "too close to Christmas".

It went for $45 shipped.

Yikes, thats all? You know mr_chun...we need to try and get one at the same time, and try and get the same games at the same time to, that'd be something else fun to do.

I had one for a few days, I just never had the chance to get into it or the money to get the games on ebay. :(

mr_chun

New Saturn fans. Its always fun when those are around. :)

I'll try to get that Saturn thread up this weekend. Or rather, the first part (Starting into the Realm of Saturn). The rest are going to be a bit more long winded. I have it broken down into sections now though.

SNEAK PEEK!

1. Introduction
2. Starting into the Realm of Saturn (Starting peripherals + games)
3. Deeper into the Wading Pool (comprehensive look at the good games in the US library).
4. Into the Seas (Starting up importing)
5. Maximum Saturn! (getting all the best imports! (without breaking the bank))
6. Collectors Vol. 1 (For the small time collectors (Winning Post, Shining Force Scenarios 2 and 3, Premium Pack, Blast Wind))
7. Collectors Vol. 2 (For the intermediate collectors (Astra Superstars, Hyper Duel, Bomerman multitap/controllers, wireless controllers, LE Saturns))
8. Collectors Vol. 3 (For the hardcore collectors (Taromaru, Crows, Haunted Casino, Langrisser Tribute, hotel Saturn, Samsung Saturn))
9. Omega Collector (For... uh... me, basically, just a section on the Navi HiSaturn, Derisoba Deluxe, Heim Waltz, Eyeful Home, LE Enemy Zero, and prototypes).

Though I will say now that PDSaga is in "Deeper into the Wading Pool" and Radiant Silvergun is in "Into the Seas". Both of those are just must owns for the system, no collecting about it.

The Skies
01-09-2007, 05:58 AM
Awesome dude, looking forward to reading it, im sure once I decide to get into the Saturn and put money into it, i'll be looking to that for guidence. I just know its a system i'd enjoy, I just need to wait for the right time.

Bruhaha69
01-09-2007, 08:30 AM
Yeah, I still need to buy Radiant Silvergun. I just missed out on one that was in great condition that went for like 120 including shipping. Didn't have the spine card, but I'm not concerned about that. Another thing holding me back is the fact that I don't have my Saturn hooked up anywhere I feel comfortable playing. I just don't want it on my tiny TV or in the environmentally unfriendly basement.

mr_chun
01-09-2007, 04:10 PM

If I ever met anyone like you in real life I would probably be really excited to go to arcade infinity with you... but that is probably not so good for you because I am kind of a crazy weirdo... then again I am not the one who owns 32 Saturns! You are! =)

I think everyone from old IGN knows that, lol. Just showing how other folks here go a bit overboard and that's ok :) The more Saturns he gets, the better :) I'll take them down though because I know you're itching to get into a boxed/loose battle and I like things drama-less these days ;)

It's ok to show that other people go overboard with their collecting, however
you need to mention that, because I got the impression you were responding
with the pictures to show off that there was a person that had more
Saturn Systems that JP, but I didn't see one Saturn system in there, hence
my response. No need to call it drama, there's no drama, and no argument
in the boxed/loose thing, obviously a complete game is 1000040504854 times
better than a loose one.
