While the Blu-Ray equipped Sony Playstation 3 is still scheduled for a Nov. 17 launch in the US, the release of Sony's long awaited stand alone Blu-Ray disk players has been delayed yet again. Originally set for a release in late October, the Sonystyle.com web store site now shows a release date of "On or about December 4, 2006" which is a couple of weeks after the PS3 launch. The BDP-S1 Blu-Ray player still has a price of $999.95 compared to the PS3's highest price of $599.

I bet all their BluRay production capacity for hardware is being drained by their impending P$3 launch. I mean the P$3 will sell far more units then thei rBluRay player will.
This is so fucking hysterical. Sony iz teh ubar laime!
Funny funny. I wonder if anyone is even going to buy Sony's Blu-Ray player? It'd be kinda pointless I would think...

If you are a videophile and you really want a high quality Blu-Ray player I am sure that the stand alone one they are putting out is way better then the PS3, and it will be easier to find this year.

If you're a videophile and have a working brain cell then I am pretty sure you'll just get an HD-DVD player.
At least, thats what I gather from all the videophiles I know.

Well... considering the fact current-gen Blu Ray players can't even play double layer Blu Ray discs... what's gonna happen when they start using those for box sets/etc?
