Capcom's Street Fighter franchise has already spawned a critically panned live action movie in 1994 with Jean-Claude Van Damme and the late Raul Julia (who played M. Bison in his final acting role). Now this Variety article reports that film developer Hyde Park Entertainment wants to give it a go again as it has secured the rights to make another live action Street Fighter movie. The movie has a screenwriter in Justin Marks but no director has been attached. The movie's plot focuses on the Chun Li character in the game series. Hyde Park and Capcom want the movie to come out in 2008, which is the 20th anniversary of the fighting game series.

You know that he would have to direct it. Maybe they could get Van Damme to come back as well.

Ay! Van Damme kicks ass! It was just a really shitty script. Let's put the blame where it is due.. the director and script writers.
The anime movies were really good.
I thought the original movie had its moments. Not "oh wow this is some good writing and good directing" moments mind you, rather "God that is so fucking cheesy its great" moments.
Though Uwe cannot make moments like that... his movies just suck... through and through. I guess now I'm going to get challenged to a boxing match. :SM15
