So you're probably asking yourself: "Who the fuck is Tali Demon?"

Well, I cannot very well accurately answer that at this time because I'm not entirely up-to-date on her career. I know she was in some rap group called Group Rehab back in the day which was pretty big. And I know that her name is almost always at the top of the list when "underground rap" fans discuss talented female rappers (that is, if they know of her, prior to a few days ago I'd only passively heard of her and had never really heard any of her music). Granted, such praise is much deserved, because not only is Tali Demon (who currently goes by Lady Morgan) an amazingly talented rapper, she is also an amazing singer.

Next question that is probably in most of your minds: "Is her album named after the Sega Saturn game?"

And the answer to that, is yes. Yes it is named after the beloved Sega Saturn game from whence my avatar comes from, NiGHTS. And this is how I discovered her. I randomly saw a review for a CD called "Nitez into Dreamz", being the NiGHTS nut that I am I had to investigate, one thing lead to another, and now I have the CD.

And now, for the review!!!!

01. Wizeman Intro: 10/10
You know at the end of NiGHTS when you're about the fight Wizeman and it plays that really cool creepy music? Yeah, thats what the intro to her CD is. Typically I don't give intros scores, but in this instance, it is well deserved.

02. Nitez into Dreamz: 10/10
This is probably my favorite song on the album. Its kind of a "Fuck the world" type track. The beat is kinda boring but Morgan's verses are awesome ("Fuck ya phoenix downs its time to battle these haters"), and the singing she does on the chorus is amazing. Her rhyme scheme is pretty complex, her flow is on point, and her delivery is perfection.

03. Fronius: 10/10
Another one of my favorite songs. This one is about her being in love with two guys at the same time. Once again, the verses are amazingly well done. Her lyrics are solid, her flow solid, and her delivery is, once again, perfection. The chorus is really the high point of this one though... once again she's singing, and once again its completely fucking amazing. The beat is, again, average.

04. Twin Seedz:
This song is split into two parts. Therefore, I'll just review each one seperately (though its one track).
-Thy Ideal: Twin Nightmarez (f. Smoke): 9/10
Bad ass song about her and Smoke being badasses or something. Her and Smoke both rap fast as hell on this track, and both of them do an amazing job. I'm not too fond of the beat, but its still pretty solid. Its a damn good song, just not quite "10". Morgan definitely shines on this one though, she goes nuts on her verse!

-Thy Consciousness: Carried Away 10/10
Morgan singing her ass off over a smooth beat. Just a cool as fuck song.

05. Music's Taken Me (f. Smoke and Fat Rat): 9/10
The beat is again the low point. Morgan's verses are... as they are on every fucking song... amazing. Smoke is also damn good. Fat Rat does a damn good job on this... but he doesn't quite keep up with Morgan or Smoke's verses, so... can't quite give this one a "10". On her myspace Fat Rat is replaced with Bizzy Bone, but... I actually like that version less, as Bizzy Bone isn't so good anymore... :(
Oh yeah, Morgan does an amazing job on the chorus here too. Basically, anything she does on this CD is fucking awesome.

06. Between the Starz and Moonz (f. Smoke): 10/10
The beat is OK here. Morgan's singing for the verses is dope as hell. Smoke is dope as hell. The choruses are dope as hell. Its basically a song about... well... fuckin'.

07. Good Dream: 10/10
Sounds like an Evanescence song or something. Regardless, its amazing. And it ends with her singing "In the night, dream delight, you're the one I've waited for". Therefore, I have to give it a 10. "Dreams Dreams" reference? Gah! I must give it a 10.

08. Floundered (f. Fat Rat): 10/10
Song about getting high and drunk. The beat is boring, the chorus is insanely catchy as hell, and Fat Rat and Morgan do an awesome job on their verses. I cannot find anything wrong with this song. Its one of my favorites on the album. Definitely a cool track for a party or something.

09. Talented Crew of Folk (f. Smoke, Fat Rat, and Saint Sinna): 8/10
The beat is again, forgetable, but Morgan does an awesome job. Smoke does an awesome job. Fat Rat does a pretty good job. Saint Sinna does a solid job too. Chorus is kinda iffy though. And for some reason, I don't like this song as much as any other song on the album... therefore I gotta give it an 8.

10. 2 Elevations: 10/10
Song dedicated to Morgan's brother. Really cool song. Her singing is beautiful, her lyrics are awesome, and the chorus is very well done. And the "ending" to the album... well... I don't want to spoil it in case one of you actually buys it... but its quite awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall: 10/10
Its an amazing album. I got it today and I've already listened to it about 5 or 6 times. The only *minor* complaints I might have is that I wish there were more Morgan *solo* songs and she needs to find some real production. Not saying anyone should've been taken off a song, I just wish there were MORE songs on the album where it was just her.

Sadly, the CD is sold out, or something. Therefore I can't point any of you to where to go buy it (which you should totally do and support her because: A. Her music is amazing and B. She's a videogame geek chic that makes amazing music. And no, I'm not ripping the CD or putting any of it up), but its my understanding that the CD is going to be re-released on her new label... soon... I guess. So whenever it goes on sale, I will definitely return and point you guys in the direction of it! In the meantime, feel free to hit up her myspace and check her out! And there's *some* CD there that I guess is one of her's... I dunno... I'll be ordering it Friday or something. I'll post a review of it too! :)

Definitely support her! If anyone deserves it, its her. :)

She also started making music by making up lyrics to the music from Shining Force and Sonic. :)
She's definitely an old school Sega fan.

Meh don't feel like registering lol. You know, if you just change your theme for a minute or so, you can upload straight to the boards. ;)

You don't have to register... you just download it. :~

Fine, I'll change my theme and upload it to the board, though I thought it meant no WMA files could be uploaded regardless of theme. Ah well. Lets see here...

It still says WMA is not allowed...

Hunter

That's odd, I am not blocking it. Lemme see if I can fix it.

yeah, it seems like attachments would work fine for Solaris. But it keeps saying that the file extension WMA is not allowed. And I'm like... WTF?

Well, that WMA seemed to work. I uploaded on one of the acidtech ones, which are the ones I usually use. I like em cuz they can upload and see the streams, they just can't see uploads :|

jp

OK, here we go (using AcidTechBlood).

jp
11-02-2006, 03:33 PM
Now I can't see the upload. So I guess I'll have to switch back to Solaris to see if it worked.

This is so awesomely nuts. :)

Listening now. I'm more of a rock man myself, but it's pretty good, but it doesn't sound like anything I recognize from nights.

She only sampled NiGHTS in one song... and thats the intro.

And she borrows lyrics from "Dreams Dreams" in the song "Good Dream".

Other than that, there isn't much actual music from NiGHTS.

Correction:
I think she samples the sound of the clock that chases you in Nitez into Dreamz.

Only 1 download!?!?!?

Man, you guys are sleeping on some damn good music. :~

jp

Alright alright, here's her song "Nitez into Dreamz".

You guys should seriously check her out, she is amazing at what she does. Whether it be singing or rapping. :)

jp

And... there you guys go. I think if you just ask her for a copy of NiD she'll send you one (at least, thats what I gather from her myspace, maybe you have to pay shipping? I don't know). Though you should at least buy the $2 "Tali Got High" CD... it has some cool tracks on it (I'm not a big fan of the other guy though... Morgan rocks it though).

But thats all I'm putting up of her's for download. If you like it, you gotta go get the rest from her. :)

I guess I should also mention that in "Twin Seedz" and "Between Starz and Moonz" she's taking the role of Claris whereas Smoke is Elliot.
