Trigger Heart Excelcia coming out Feb. 2007 for the Dreamcast!!!!!!!!!!!! Special and regular editions!!!!! Fuck yeah!!!!!!!!!

Also, Milestone's new shmup is coming to the Wii (granted, Chaos Field disgusted me and Rajirugi was only "alright" IMO, so I cannot say I'm THAT excited).

I just wonder what effect this will have on G.Rev. I mean, G.Rev said they weren't making more DC games due to them "promising" Under Defeat as the last one. But with this coming out... they might as well keep making DC games. Then at least their western fanbase could import it.

I'll be getting Trigger Heart for sure, just the cheap version though. I hope the DC keeps getting arcade shooter games.

It's great that we're getting more games, but I just wish G.Rev would throw us another bone. Crow looks to be a rehash of Radirgy, and the arcade version of Trigger Heart is getting bad reviews. I'll probably end up buying both of them, just to support Dreamcast, but I'd trade all 3 of these new shmups for a new G. Rev one.

Yeah, I'm just excited about Crows because its a new DC game... but Milestone isn't that great IMO so I'm not THAT excited.

A new G.Rev title would make me so very happy...

Funny, I got the huge urge to play resident evil a couple days after christmas. And remembered I was still saved on disc 2 of Code Veronica for the Dreamcast, I had never beaten it. last save date was sometime in 2000!

When I fired things up, I had no idea where I was, and was basically in "open every door and room" hell for an hour. I finally beat the game, wow how the graphics aged (and the voice acting). Still great game. Has to be one of the longest gaps I've ever gone to not beating a game.

I caved and downloaded the game. It's definitely a worthy purchase. With that in mind, I'm going to trash the disc and buy it as soon as I have the money.

Trigger Heart is weird. I think I like it, but the grappling is something that I need to get used to. Unfortunately, the GXTV I play my DC on started to buzz and give off a burning smell in mid-play, so I'll need to get back to it after I figure out what's toasting what. I hope it's the TV and not the electrical.

Pretty darn cool, this whole snatch and bowling sling thing is kinda neat, it'll take alittle getting used to for sure, but I can see how it could get you outta some big trouble later on in the upper levels. I wish they'd thrown down with some sub-titles though for the story mode, what happen'd there? Nice graphics too.

FINALLY got to play it.

At first my thoughts were, "Great, another generic manic..."

Then I started flinging ships around. Then I score 68 million and saw the end of level 4. Now I'm like " :O This game is fucking awesome!"

Okay, Triggerheart arrived and I put about 2 hours into it. So far I can get to level 4 on one credit and complete it using continues. I absolutely love it.. It's so much fun! Perhaps the best DC game since Border Down, maybe even beating Under Defeat in fun-factor (but not graphics, obviously). I had to set the swing gimmick to auto because it was taking too long to swing - It improved the game a lot when I did that. Right now I'd rather play as Exelica than as Cruel Tear, but I suspect once I'm better at the game I'll have a greater appreciation for CT's more direct approach.

I think Triggerheart is a game that will rapidly grow in popularity as time goes on. I'm getting more and more enjoyment out of it every time I play.

I'm on the cusp of 1CCing it. I can get to level 5 but I typically only have one life when I get there. But I know if I just make ONE good run I can get there with all my lives (maybe even five lives as I'm also on the cusp of breaking 100mil).

Man, the scoring system in this game is great. I also like how boss fights work. The more medals you have... the more forms you fight. And having to learn how to boost the multiplier during the boss fights so that by the end your multiplier is MASSIVE is just freakin' cool. I've got the level 1 boss down pat, level 2... I've got a good idea, level 3 is still a bit of a challenge for me, but I'm getting there, level 4 is very doable, its just that the boss is damn hard! Haven't seen the level 5 boss yet though... :. I can almost get to it though, because I can get really far into level 5 on my one life. :SM14

I am kinda worried about the scoring though because apparently its easily abused. I know some Japanese videos have them getting 200mil in level 1... and given how extends work, I don't think thats supposed to happen. Then again, Border Down is also easily abused as Randorama once told me how to get 100mil against the boss of level 3 on Green Border. But... I'm not quite good enough at BD to take on that boss at full rank and pull that shit off.

In so far as where I'd rank Excelica... its easily in the top tier of DC shmups. The bullet patterns are fun and its fairly deep, so I'd probably place it above Trizeal at least.

Alright, I SHOULD have this 1CC'd this week. In theory, if I made a GOOD run, I can make it to the final boss on one life and get both extends. Now I just gotta figure out the first form of the final boss... :SM14

The number of medals you have. For the 1st boss you have to have I think 2000+ to fight the 3rd form, 2500+ to fight the 4th form, and 3000+ to trigger the other Trigger Heart.

As far as I can tell, only the even number levels have the enemy Trigger Heart as a final boss. I typically end level 2 with 3000+ medals and the fight ends. I beat level 4 with 6000+ medals and it just ended. So as far as I can tell, you only fight the enemy Trigger Heart in levels 1 and 3, and its triggered by having 3000+ medals.

Anyways, 1CC was PIMP!!!!! I 1 lifed it to Stage 5 and fought EVERY FORM of EVERY boss!!!! Very cool!!! I had one stupid death in Stage 5 and one death against the final boss. I only had one form for the final boss though, so I don't know if there's supposed to be more there or not.

Alright, just to verify, Fain Tear ONLY appears in levels 1 and 3. Kind of a shame, those fights are really fun. Albeit REALLY fucking hard if you don't know what you're doing (especially Stage 3...).

Were you playing Story Mode or Arcade Mode?

Its my understanding she does appear after the final boss in Story Mode, but not in Arcade Mode.

Thanks man! Trigger Heart Excelica is a really laid back manic, I think you'd definitely enjoy it.

I'm getting Karous next week, so I'll let you guys in on how that is then. I hear its better (albeit easier) than Rajirugi too.

Though in Compile's defense if they didn't give you a bajillion lives those games would've been fairly difficult. Power Strike 2 I'm looking at you...
