Kicked the shit out of me last night. Planet Sonata was insane. And for some reason the snowball fight on Planet Freon kept killing me.

Ack! I just haven't played it in so long. Such a cool game though. :)

I recall it being hard too, be a looooooong time since I played it, may have to flip it in sometime and take another go at it. Don't think I ever beat it?

I know I beat it as a kid. I remember LOVING the final boss... though for the life of me I cannot recall what it was. :SM14

Ristar kicks ass though... I shall snag it on Wii sometime early next year...

I keep wanting to think it was an evil version of Ristar. I seem to recall the boss having the same power as Ristar anyways.

Yup. In fact, I think it was just a black orb with eyes. Though I could be mistaken. But I do seem to recall him doing the headbutting thing.

So Josh, taken any songs off any mixers lately? :)

Ristar IS hard! I beat it once when I was in high school, but that's the only time I've ever beaten it! I THINK the last boss was a wizard that shot lightning bolts at you and summoned other enemies to hurt you, but it's been so long, my memory is foggy! :(

That planet Sonata was an absolute BEAST! It was a cool level though, so despite its difficulty, I didn't mind playing it over and over! :p Still, the song that plays when you beat a level is one of my favorite tunes in a game ever! :56.9hart43:

Sonata is very hard.

My main problem is I keep trying to 1CC the game. Damn 2D shooters all making it so I feel guilty about saying "Yes" to continuing. :SM14

I've beaten Ristar without dying, just not recently. I think I was a lot better at games when I was younger.

I'm still trying to remember how to throw the super snowball. I swear I'm not crazy, it can be done and I will figure it out

When I was in high school, I played through Ristar over and over trying to collect all those special items (can't remember what they were)

The end music impressed me so much that I recorded it on VHS and would play it daily. I even played it for my SNES fan friends to show off lol

The game was very well made. The music was awesome, the graphics were great (I loved how he had different stand-still animations for certain levels), the control was sweet, the bosses were awesome........Great game except that it came with those shitty-ass paper boxes Sega dumbed downt o in the end.

I thought the intro music and the "flying to a new planet" music were cool, too. I would love to see Ristar in another game aside from just a toy in Shenmue (although that was nice to see).

Not that I think it should go 3D if they made a new one, but I could see some good play mechanics in the way he flew around on the 2D game.
