many people consider dreamcast ahead of its time, and I for one think that as well. Games like Shenmue, Shenmue II, Samba, Jet Set Radio are a few that come to mind. What do you guys think?

First console with the analogue triggers, a screen on the controller, motion sensitive controller on a console (Sega Bass Fishing and Samba), a pack-in modem with browser, and four player fighting games on a console (Marvel vs Capcom, DOA 2, Powerstone 2 if you consider it one).

Oh god, all Memory cards in the future need to be VMU's. And Controllers SO need LCD's on them.

VMU = BEST.IDEA.EVER!!!

VMU's are great memory cards, but I can't stand memory card management especially when you have about 3 of them each with certain games on them. Xbox hard drives spoiled me :SM14

Well if they had had 4X VMU's that would've rocked. I have yet to fill my 4X card.

Yeah, the VMU was an AWESOME idea! It was easily one of my favorite "features" of the Dreamcast in general! Too bad they just didn't have much memory on them! Imagine if they retooled things today (or the near future)! IPODs now have 80 GIGS worth of memory! That's enough to save custom content, downloadable games AND all your saves! If they could work something like that with GameBoy like gameplay/screen, then it would be heavenly! I think Nintendo "tried" to do a bit of this by hooking up the GBA to the GameCube, but it wasn't nearly as good, or efficient as the VMU was. Plus, wearing one around your neck made you super cool too! :p

I think some of the games that were just ahead of their time were games like Chu Chu Rocket (online play :D ), Jet Grind Radio (Cel shading and COMPLETELY different than anything else I'd ever played), Samba de Amigo (Maracas), and plus even games that didn't really innovate still pushed the boundaries of their current genres at the time! :56.9hart43:

Rez. I think it captured exactly what the future will be like :D

Can't wait to hardwire my brain to a Trance Vibrator and fly to work, shooting the crap out of invading shapes on the way.
