I know there was a cart for the Game Gear that allowed you to play SMS games on the Game Gear (as I owned it), but was something similar ever made for the Genesis? Or maybe something that played GG games on the Genesis that would let me use that old attachment to play SMS?

Dunno, I would research this, but I'm about to pass out. But basically, my thinking was:
Get a CDX. Small and convienant and I can now play my Genesis/Sega CD games.
Get something that plays SMS on the Genesis (somehow), now I have a small and convienant little console that lets me play three of my favorite gaming libraries!

I dunno, I've been itching for some old school Sega goodness lately. And what with efumf running around talking about Power Strike II, now I'm not JUST missing the Genesis/Sega CD, but ye old SMS as well.

Mmmmm... Penguin Land... :drooling:

Yup. The Power Base Converter.

I actually put my Master System away years ago and only use the Converter to play; since I have RGB-SCART/stereo leads for my Mega Drive 1 - making it the best way to play SMS games.

I think that version only fits on the Mega Drive 1/Genesis 1, but I believe they made some that work with the MD2/Gen2 as well, so that would be your best bet - and even if it won't fit on a CDX, perhaps it can be modified?

You can hack off the screw holes to get it to fit on the model 2, I believe. Least, I've heard you can but I never had a model 2 Genesis.

Penguin Land is a great game. I'd let the ghost get me just to look cool with the sunglasses and cigarette. Backward controls be damned.
