This is before and after pic. Before the car accident and absolutely no working out. And me now; all the Physical Therapy and crunches.

I do about 120 crunches, 20 pushups, but a lot of Physical Therapy in my neck and legs.

I lost 40 pounds. 230 before; 190 now.

He says that someone took that photo and used it to in some way to basically make fun of them on ALT I believe. We really didn't go into details. I felt pretty bad that somehow I made it possible and told him I'd take the pic off of Got-Next as soon as I could.

So I deleted the pic and left my little message to the responsible party. I don't care too much personally as I can't do anything about it. I don't want to discuss it or solve the mystery or anything.... I just want the drama to die personally.

I've got some nifty ones to post this time.

When I went home for Thanksgiving, I found some cool old pics of my old place in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia, an area that has been so completely transformed that very little of what can be seen still remains.

My home was what you call a "fixer upper." Here it is when we first bought it when I was 2 years old:

It wasn't that much better when we moved in. It had windows, but not plumbing, a bathroom, or a kitchen, so we ate at a nearby restaurant called Paradise, which I interpreted as "Parrot Eyes" based on the decor. We never put proper heat in the place until we were getting ready to sell it.

But it fixed up nice. Here's the front of the house after we had been there a few years. Note our crazy old-timey car on the right with the white body and blue door (it was 50-something Studabaker if I recall correctly, but we had a lot of semi-disposable cars from no-longer existant brands like an International and a Nash Rambler because of the arson problem).

Also notice Discmakers in the back, once one of the largest vinyl record factories in the country. There's now a park there.

From the rear, you can see we had a nice sized yard (it was paved though), and the big balcony window my dad put in my room.

A wider shot. Most of the buildings have since been torn down. The green building across the street was lit on fire in an attempt at insurance fraud when I was I think 8 or 9. The crackhead lady who lived there robbed our house, so I didn't feel bad when it happened.

It looks really small now, but it felt big when I was a kid. I liked living in a place that my dad more or less built (or rebuilt as it were), since it was very personalized. I have a lot of fond memories there.

The neighborhood as it was is gone, but the house still stands, and in 2005 it sold for $300,000. We paid 11 grand for it in 1984.

Here's how it looks today, according to Google Maps. The big maple tree in the yard was a seedling we found in the trash. It was the first tree anywhere in the neighborhood, but we planted many more later on:

wow those are some telling pictures Frog. I love looking at old pictures of buildings. I am fascinated by forgotten sections of major cities. There are a lot of areas of Kansas City that were probably great places to be 60 years ago. Its crazy how much things change.

Yeah, it was transformed really quickly. I mean it improved somewhat in the time we were there because my dad rebuilt the house and we planted trees and started a neighborhood watch thing, but it was still a place where all the crackheads and whores hung out.

All it took to turn it around was to tear down all those derelict factories and squatters pads, really. Once they were gone, the bad element was no longer sheltered. I'm sure if we didn't buy it that house would have been torn down too.

The beach was COLD this morning, but nice. First time surf fishing. Caught a small halibut and this 12 inch Red Tail Perch. Standing there on a big ass beach, casting out in the waves, and catching a fish is a damn cool thing. Lakes and rivers and even the bay is cool, but casting off into the Pacific Ocean is a really cool feeling. Picture from my 3+ old LG Voyager, lol....Brought that fish home, fillets really quickly, and tossed it in some tortillas with egg and sweat chili sauce. mmmmmmm....lol. The tide went WAY down and the bites stopped so I left and got home by 10am. 45 minute drive. Fun morning :)
