I don't think there is a problem with a large number of posts as long as they introduce something new. I don't really know what the point is in having a welcome thread for every new member on the site or a thread that would say something like, "wooo!!! yippie yay!!!" when you click it, it says something like, "beer is good!"

For a smaller board, having a welcome thread for every new member is just a nice thing to do to welcome them to our community, I still like that we do that. Now if it was a huge site, then I wouldent bother with it.

As for threads like you mentioned, those are pointless as well, i've yet to have one of those...actually I might of had one when just having fun when the boards came back up, that thread...
