Another tough call, but I think I'll stick with Shenmue II. Same great Shenmue gameplay, massively expanded experience. Also a great source of Vitamin A.

I agree competely. Shenmue II was the best game on DC. I loved disc 4, it was so unlike anything I have ever played.
This is really hard. Its either Border Down or Twinkle Star Sprites. Not sure which.

Getting off the topic, is Grandia 2 a must-own DC RPG? It looked pretty good but I never took the chance on it. Am I missing out big or is it easily passable?

Tough call on this one! It's either Rez or NBA Showtime! I love both to death, I've probably played more NBA Showtime than Rez, so I'll go with that! So my answer of the day is...
NBA Showtime!!! :D
Man, the memories I have of playing this game! My friend used to come over as soon as he would wake up, and he'd wake me up... We'd proceed to play NBA Showtime ALL DAY taking some small breaks to "REALLY" enjoy some munchies and go to the bathroom! We beat the whole game all the way through multiple times experimenting with various attributes on our players! We finally found what seemed to really work best, and kept our players... Hawk & McFly in the tie died shirts like Brian from Half Baked!
We were RUTHLESS at this game! We invited ALL of our friends to challenge us! We didn't show ANY mercy and would typically beat them so bad, that after one game, they would refuse to ever play us again! We did get challenged again by my best friend who practiced quite a bit, as well as my brothers who were both really good... and all 3 of them were NBA Jam veterans, so they were able to put up some competetion... but it was not enough to douse the flames of our mighty TEAM FIRE!!!
After we ran out of competition from our friends and families, and we had beaten the computer on every difficulty all the way through too many times to count, we finally got the bright idea that since this was an arcade port, we should hunt down the arcade game and challenge strangers! We scoured the Dallas area for the game, and we found it in a couple of locations... and of course, we proceeded to beat the tar out of everyone we played, moving from arcade to arcade after topping off each of the machines with our names as the top players!
Well, we finally found an arcade that was pretty much in the perfect spot for the both of us (Sega's own Gameworks)! We went there and made that our new home! We even went out and got custom made hats with our personal numbers on them... Mine was the number 4! Since he was second player... ;) Anyway, it turns out, this arcade actually got quite a bit of competition on the game... but they were no match for Hawk & McFly! We would end up playing with people just to make the defeat all the much more humiliating! We'd go stupid easy on them in the first half, and then talk them into playing the rest of the game... Once they locked in their credits for a full game, it was time to break out the hook and ladder!
One time, we walked up to this guy playing the game and we were like... "Oh hey, that looks like that old game NBA Jam!" We asked the guy if it was another NBA Jam game and he "informed" us that it was the sequel! So we got into a game and he was ahead by 30 points at the half! We were still playing dumb and were like, "Man, this sure is a fun game! It really is a lot like NBA Jam! You want to play another half?" He of course was all for it... We ended up beating the guy so bad that we came back from our 30 point deficit and ended up beating him by over 100 points!!! He tried to break the joystick off the machine and then stormed out of the arcade cursing his like crazy! I just knew he was going to be waiting for us in the parking lot! :p
Yeah, so anyway, we finally decided that our goal was to at least beat the number 3 player on the machine. He was a Gameworks employee, so we knew who he was... but every time we asked to play him, he'd refuse! I can understand considering he wanted to keep his record clean of losses! We ended up playing just about everyone else except this guy! MOST people took the beating quite well, and were actually really impressed! We'd beat them after letting them have the first half, and when the top scores popped up on the machine, they'd be like, "Oh man, we just got had!" :SM14 A few people did tell us to get a life and we were like, "We have one... it's beating the crap out of you at NBA Showtime!" :p One time, we started up a game and put in our names Hawk & McFly and this kid was watching. He came up to us and said, "You guys are Hawk & McFly? WOOOOOW!!!" :SM14 That's probably the closest we'll ever get to celebrity status! :p
Anyway, it got to the point where they finally erased the game of the high scores, and McFly got into an arguement with one of the managers because they said "How did they know that he didn't just steal a game card" when he got a bunk game card... so we finally quit playing! I still think we should go for the actual official record for NBA Showtime though, because there's no doubt in my mind we'd get it!
NBA Showtime is such a great game! :)

hawk you are just filled with stories. You should write a book :)
NBA jam series is great. I'm a huge fan of all basketball games but the NBA street series is weak IMO. My favorite though is the 2k series and nba 2k1 is probably my favorite sports game on the DC. What makes the 2k series so special for me is a good mixture of Simulation and arcade feel. Its kinda gone more simulation in recent years which isn't to bad. I end up mastering all nba 2k games :SM6

LOL! Yeah, maybe I should write a book! :p
Yeah, I'm totally with you too! I LOVE Basketball games! Ever since the days of insane Double Dribble all nighters as a kid, to the insanely awesome NBA Jam, I've always been a bigger fan of basketball games than pretty much any other sports game!
And I'm totally with you on both the 2k series and NBA Street! 2k is the perfect blend of arcade and sim... and NBA Street... :|
Yeah, so I want to vent a little about NBA Street for a second. First off, I blame Sony and EA for the crap they pulled with NBA Street! I was actually looking forward to the game before it came out, and when it did, McFly and I rented a PS2 and NBA Street so we could do some all nighters. Yeah, we quickly found out that if 2 people wanted to play NBA Street, then they had to be on opposing teams! :~ This REALLY made us mad! The game itself was cool enough, but that glaring omission really stood out as 2 things: 1.) This is because Sony had the freakin' nerve to release a next gen system with 2 controller ports. 2.) EA knew that they could instantly sell a sequel with multi-player support, and this made me even madder! Well, I still bought the damn games because I did like them... but I did not like them as much as NBA Showtime though.
And to be fair, I didn't like NBA Hoops or Ballers as much as NBA Showtime either... but I still really enjoyed those. I just felt there was SO MUCH missed potential with those games though! :(

Thread: Arise!
The most fun I had with my Dreamcast had to be with Test Drive LeMans. I actually completed a 24 hour race (not in one sitting, but in a few days). I remember the clock on it being a bit slow as the race took over 26 hours.
Shenmue II I imported from Europe to play and didn't regret it at all, but it still has to be my memories with TD:LM

Hah, I loved Test Drive LeMans. I actually used to think of it as Shenmue racing for its time and weather coolness. Nice job on doing the 24 hour mode. I never had it in me.

Tie between Shenmue 2 and Skies of Arcadia for me.
Skies > Grandia 2!
If I answered this question at the end of the DC era, I probably would have chosen PSO as I spent a lot of time on that game and loved it. But PSO is just outdated now and I don't think I could play through it again like Shenmue or Skies.
</= Ikaruga.
Then Rez.
Then Mark of the Wolves, Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue... damn, tough to say. =/

MvC2 is my all time favorite game, it's gained SSF2T-like devotion at the arcade (still play it regularly at the arcade to this day, 8 years and counting).
But I don't really consider it a DC game. So I'll go with JGR. I used to just sit there and find grinds for hours on end. Such a great game.

Rez, Rush 2049...I miss Rush, so much time put into that game, especially all night with people over, fun stuff!

But I don't really consider it a DC game.
Why not? It originated on DC hardware (NAOMI) and the DC version was the first home port by years.

I just don't think DC when I think of MvC2. I think arcade, where 99.999% of my MvC2 playtime came from.
Yeah the Naomi/DC situation was awesome. I really wish Capcom would be able to always develop their fighters on arcade hardware that has a home equivalent. The DC version is by far the best home version of MvC2.

Skies of Arcadia is my choice (I don't think I put anything in this thread before...), but Grandia II, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and MvC2 are close seconds.

This question is not fair. The Dreamcast was too much gaming good goodness.
For me
Sword of the Berserk
Toy Commander
Mark of the Wolves
Rez
Bangai O
I'll keep it at five, just of the top of my head. Also, I know it doesn't technically count, since it wasn't released and all, but goddamn is Propeller Arena a fun game. I was just playing thay yesterday, and couldn't put it down.

Wrong. The correct answer is:
Shenmue II
But thanks for playing.
