Doesn't have to be a Sega produced/developed game as long as it was on a Sega console. Alternately, if it's a Sega game on a non-Sega console, that's ok too.

The most recent one for me is Shenmue. I know it needs no explanation to most of you guys here, but come on....is there anyone on this board that wasn't in pure awe the first time they started playing the game?

I was just walking around the Hazuki residence for hours picking things up and looking at them. The day I got the game, a buddy of mine (who doesn't even like games, mind you) commented on how awesome it was. I didn't disagree.

The best part for me was that it wasn't just one particular thing that made Shenmue so awesome. A lot of games have those particular moments that you can pinpoint. This game was like one big moment. It was as if every step you took and every second that passed had you just amazed that you were playing a game so good. Definitely goes down as one of my favorite games and chockfulla great experiences for me.

This is tough. Me and my ex would get really fucked up and play Sonic 2 all night, that was a lot of fun. Maybe the first time I beat Radiant Silvergun without using any continues.

beating NiGHTS and getting all the endings :) Also for me playing shenmue for the first time. I think I played it about 6 hours straight when I got it. That is really rare for me to do :)

Beating darth for the first time on NCAA 2k2 with a last second field goal. :D

Oh, and then the no defence game of NFL 2k4? I never had a lead all game, but would always tie it up, until it went to overtime and I got the ball first and won it 77-70. :p

-Playing hours and hours of NHLPA' 93 when I first had a Genesis and finally winning the Stanley Cup(all they had was playoffs - no season) with the "Long Island" Islanders. There were no trades in that game and the Isles were not very good at all.

-Playing Sonic 2 on the Genesis (the other game I received with my Genesis).

-The marathon NHL '94 and '95 sessions I had with my roomates in college. We had a league and everything. It was awesome.

-Playing my Saturn for the first time. I bought it as a graduation present for myself in 1996 with X-Men Children of the Atom and NightWarriors (Darkstalkers 2).

-Panzer Dragoon II Zwei. It is still one of my favorite Sega games and I wish I still had it.

-First firing up the Dreamcast and playing Soul Calibur and Shenmue (Christmas 2000). I was totally blown away.

-The awesomeness that was NFL 2K1. I never played online, but I loved the game.

right after I came home from a rehabilitation center my cousin let me borrow his copy of shenmue for the Dreamcast and I remember one day playing it for 14 hours straight. I wasn't in school that time because I had just dropped out of highschool. The game was so good it gave my mind something to immerse myself in when I was living in this world where it seemed like everything in my life at the time was consumed by my own feces.

I also have memories of uncontrollable laughing multiplayer saturn bomberman games at my house back in the day. <3 One time we tried to get my mom to play, but she couldn't somehow (i know, how can someone not play bomberman? it's so simple). The only game I've ever seen mommy play successfully is Sonic Shuffle. She asked us if eggman was sitting on a giant toilette when he drops the anvil (or whatever things he drops on the characters)! :SM14

oh yeah forgot to mention all the times staying up until 5 am playing video games (mostly sega games, i swear!) with my cousin Mike on the weekends or when we were little kids and he lived with us. <3

I guess I could add:
Standing in front of a Toys R' Us kiosk playing the shit out of Panzer Dragoon and attracting a small crowd as a I beat the game (and from that day forward I was infatuated with the Saturn).

When Lagi first flies in PDIIZwei.

When you fight the Guardian Dragon in PDSaga and the same music plays. I teared up. I can't deny it.

Downloading the Sonic Adventure Christmas Pack to my VMU. Thinking, "Cool, a Christmas tree!" and running up to it. When the Christmas version of "Dreams Dreams" started up, I teared up. :SM9

Chillin' with Jarrod (Szordrin) playing PSO on GC and doing the NiGHTS quest, and when THEY started playing "Dreams Dreams"... I fuckin' freaked. Szordrin can attest to this. :D

Man, the Panzer Dragoon series is like a collection of great video game moments.

The intro to the first game was great enough on its own. The part where the dragon flies away from the explosion right as Keil just got all weak-kneed. The music for that part gave me the old chills. Same as when the solo wing dragon cries (well, screeches but you can tell it's sad). if that intro doesn't pump you up to play that game, I don't know what intro can.

I agree on Lagi flying the first time in Zwei. Another section of that game that was awesome was flying out of the canyon off the cliff. That was amazing to me. The section in Episode 4 (if you take the first route) where you go up the elevator and the music is pretty quiet and calm. Then as soon as you get to the top and start going, the music starts back up the kicks into action when Lagi starts flying off. They really knew how to make the music in that game work.

One more for Zwei was the first time I unlocked solo wing. As they pan in towards the boss I could see the glow and I was like "What the fuck is going on..." As soon as the Dragon changed, I ran out to grab my sister so she could see how awesome it was that they included the blue dragon in the game. I also believe he could lock onto 14 targets just for that section. Not sure why you couldn't for the box game, but that's off-topic.

Another awesome game moment was in Sonic 2. Going Super Sonic the first time almost made me cry. The music, the way he looked, the animations for ducking, balancing and running. It was perfect and definitely worth beating the bonus rounds to get. I actually made the Super Sonic theme my ringtone (sonic 2, not the goofy circus music for S3 and S&K3). Now if the new games would let you use Super Sonic outside of boss fights, I'd be in heaven. Guess I'll need to settle for Sonic R. Off topic, can anyone tell me why Super Sonic moves slower on the Radiant Emerald course? That never made sense to me.

Totally agree on Panzer Dragoon. So much coolness.

I don't know why Super Sonic is slower on Radiant Emerald course. But I noticed that too, as my cousin beat me using Metal Sonic, and I was like "What the fuck!?" :annoyed:

I like Zwei better than the first PD. I never got far in PD but with Zwei I did.

Can't believe I didn't think of it, but fighting the Crimson King in the Otogi games is incredible. It's like my favorite fight of all time. the little cut scenee that happens in the Otogi 2 Crimson King fight is exellent and makes me want to go play it right now. Best weapon clashing sounds I've ever heard.

I do realize this was produced by FROM, but if Sega didn't publish it here, who knows if we would have got the game. I give them credit for that.

Crimson King fight is indeed one of the most awesome moments ever. The fact that the fight is an entire level, and the level the fight takes place in... just awesome.

Final boss in Otogi was a bitch though... :SM7

does snooglypants still mean gay?

Otogi 1 or 2? I say both. The gameplay is pretty much the same. The only difference is that you control multiple characters in 2 where as 1 allowed Raikoh (main guy) to use different style weapons (staffs, clubs, long swords, short swords, dual swords). Basically, the alternate characters replaced the alternate weapons and move sets. That's a bit of a letdown, but not enough to wreck the game.

Also, there were like 33 weapons in Otogi, all for Raikoh. In this one, the characters have like 3 weapons each (Raikoh has a 4th) and they only change character stats (defense, strength, etc.) and not moves. So basically, Raikoh will always have his same combos regardless of weapon. Different characters do have different move, so that still offers some variety.

I honestly think you should get both. You can probably get them for under $20. The game isn't too complicated but it's pure enemy smashing fun. You will enjoy knocking enemies through walls. That's a guarantee.

End of the day, the highlight of both games will be the Crimson King fight. I went back and played the fight over and over and over, never tiring of it. I actually pop the disc in every once in awhile and play it a few times.

Unfortunately, my old Xbox (with the toasted drive) is home to my Otogi save file, so I lost a little bit of data on that. I think I completed the game in 15-20 hours and replayed the crimson king for about 10 more haha. in short, get the games for pure mindless hack n' smash-em up fun

Personally, I preferred the original Otogi, but I must confess I didn't play through Otogi 2.

Now, imagine an Otogi 360. :drooling:
