I gotta be a bum for this. I had no Sega CD until......now. Since one of the only games I played for it was Sonic CD, I guess i'll say that's my favorite.
'Tis a good one!!! :)
Maybe this thread will give you a good idea on what to check out for it! :)

I loved the cut scene's in Dark Wizard, and the music. I guess I just liked that game all around. But my favourite one would probably be Sonic CD.
I liked games like Rise of the Dragon and Snatcher too.
Played through PC stuff like King's Quest and Space Quest etcetera.
EDIT: Oh look, I found an intro for Snatcher on YouTube!

I got a SegaCD back in the day but it broke and I never got to play to many games for it. The game I played the most was Joe Montana football but I doubt that was the best game for it.

Definitely Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side!!! :x
When Eternal Champions was about to release for Genesis, I was super excited! I was a HUGE Street Fighter fan, and an even BIGGER Mortal Kombat fan... Reading about everything Sega was planning on doing with Eternal Champions had me SUPER EXCITED! I absolutely LOVED the character design and the backgrounds in the pictures, and all the extras that were promised to be in the game were quite overwhelming! It sounded like it was going to be the best fighting game ever... Then it came out, and my brother got it for Christmas! We woke up at 2:00 in the morning and played the game pretty much all day... but the experience was quite a let down from what I was expecting.
First off, the Genesis version was good, so don't get me wrong. We liked the game, but it was a let down. The music was that generic U.S. Genesis music, with a few memorable tracks, but not many. The gameplay was hampered by the fact that special moves used up the special moves meter, and in 2 player you could turn this off, but single player you had to play with it on... Which leads to the horribly unbalanced gameplay. Yeah, it added to the challenge a bit, but trying to beat Shadow with ANYONE was insanely difficult since for some reason, her specials didn't take up nearly ANY of her meter, and yet they were SUPER effective too! Add onto that, the fact that if you lost in a single player match, you had to GO BACK TWO CHARACTERS AND WORK YOUR WAY BACK UP!!! OK, so that's a pain... but then when you finally make it to the Eternal Champion (good luck getting there), you are challenged to beat him MULTIPLE times on a single bar of health... and if you lose, then it's GAME OVER - YOU ARE STARTING OVER FROM THE BEGINNING!!! :SM19 OK, talk about frustrating! It wouldn't be so bad if losing to Shadow 1000 times didn't wear your patience thin by the time you actually made it to the Eternal Champion, losing 1 match to him would send you THROUGH THE ROOF!!!
OK, so let's say that you actually manage to beat the Eternal Champion (which I did once... One of my proudest gaming moments EVER), then you are treated to some scrolling text and then the credits. :| Well, that's better than the "Game Over" Shinobi for Master System gives, but still, it's kind of a slap in the face after beating one of the most difficult games EVER (Just like Shinobi)! Yeah, after that, I only played the game in 2-player. Of course "fatalities" were near impossible and sheer luck, my friend would totally abuse Shadow's invulnerability because we'd turn off the special meter, and the game was still not what it should have been.
So then comes along the Sega CD update.
:O
Now THIS is what I was hoping for! Seriously, they took everything great about the game, threw out the bad and made it all AWESOME!!! I'll start with the kick @$$ soundtrack! This is one that I put in my CD player and listened to all the time! Freakin' best soundtrack EVER!!! Second, they totally rebalanced the gameplay! Now you could do massive combos, with juggles and all sorts of cool stuff! They added different types of fatalities which made finishers more common! The roster and secrets added were INSANE (Playing as the Senator with Bill Clinton jogging to McDonald's in the background is to this day one of the coolest things EVER)! The difficulty in the single player was adjusted so that you could now continue where you left off when you lost! The Eternal Champion was still a one shot, but it was actually kind of cool this way since he wasn't TOO difficult to beat and you could actually get to him again and practice a few times to learn how he works! Also, the FMV cut scenes added for all the different things in the game were COMPLETELY satisfying! It's crazy how big of a gap there is between the original and this game! Seriously, 1000x better is nowhere even close to how much better this game is! It totally sold me on the series, and I was SO excited about the announced Saturn version (which eventually got canned in favor of not competing with Virtua Fighter... Which to this day makes me mad since I'm much more into Eternal Champions than I am Virtua Fighter)! This game FREAKIN' ROCKS!!!

I had the stacked genesis + CD version like in your second picture there. I got the Sega CD from my parents for graduating high school.
Heck I still do in fact! No games for either though really. Kinda sad too if you think about it. My Saturn collection is pretty sweet though. Only domestic stuff but about 130 odd titles and a good selection of peripherals and a few of the more rare and or sought after games to boot like Saga, Dragon Force and Guardian Heroes.
I really need to snipe me a really good lot of sega cd, genesis and master system games. If I did that I would have a damn fine Sega collection.

I agree absolutely, word-for-word, on everything HawkClay wrote.
I even had fun playing 2 player vs without a second person to find the special moves and fatalities! There was so much added to that game... some of the bloodiest fatalities ever too!!!!!

I got the original stacker Sega CD with my original Sega Genesis... but after YEARS of practically non-stop playtime with it, the drive finally crapped out on us, and we had to get a model 2 Sega CD instead. I liked the original better, but man did we put some massive play time on that machine! I really felt like we wore the thing out... unlike my first PlayStation which crapped out on me within the first year of moderate play! :~
Conjoshus, heck yeah! Eternal Champions rules! My personal favorite character was Larcen, but I thought all the designs were great! My brothers played as Xavier and Midnight, while my best friends played as Trident and Shadow!
Oh, and I forgot to add that taunting in a fighting game is just awesome!

For me, it was Midnight and Larcen!
Hellz yeah! I still have the guide I made that describes all the fatalities... the two stage fatalities (overkills and sudden deaths), the personal fatalities (vendettas), and the cinekills.
Hell, I even found power combos with the snake and Yappy!

Heck yeah! The Cinekills were the coolest thing EVER! :SM6
I used to kick butt with Hooter and Kay F. Chicken as well! Playing as the animals was a great bonus to the regular characters!

Hey JP I beat SFCD and I tried that bonus fight at the end and I could'nt beat it cause the characters that I used and built up were not the chararaters that I was suppose to use. THat pissed me off cuz it was a pretty good game minus the story.

Going off topic for a second, I just realized the Green Hill Zone music for Sonic 2 on GG and SMS is the same as the Sonic CD Japanese intro. Cool. The ignorance makes sense since I didn't hear the Sega CD JP intro until I got Sonic Jam in the Saturn days. I like finding these kind of things out.
