My very amateur review! http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/dreamcast/review/R26278.html
I could'nt afford a pc back then but needless to say these browsers suck. And this is coming from somebody that used the Lynx browser bacn in the day. I was stunned that Sega didn't use some form of MS IE. There were 7 versions of that crappy browswer lol.

One the other hand, SEGA Swirl was awesome!!
Sega Swirl was indeed quite awesome.
Personally, I've never understood the attraction to surfing the web on consoles. I mean, I guess back on the Saturn it was neat since we didn't really do much with the internet prior... but once the DC came out I already had a PC with internet. And now with people whining about the 360 not having a browser... I'm just like, "Obviously you have a computer... you're online whining about shit..."
But yeah, the DC browsers did suck what little I used them (downloading stuff on to the VMU).

Well, it'd be nice to game and post here at the same time :O
What they definitely need to do is integrate Xbox Live with Windows Live Messenger.

Then you'd constantly have chat boxes popping up while you're trying to blast to Locust... :~
Its bad enough with Cystic's chat invites. :O
I'm just messin' you mustard lookin' Charlie Brown resemblin' goofy muthafucka! :SM14

Well, I figured it'd work like current live. You get a little notification you received message which you can turn. Or, if you are in game, it could set you to busy, so you don't get notified.

Well I could'nt afford a pc at the time but the Dream Passport and Dreamkey (The japanese and european browsers.) were better than Planet WEb. I think you could copy and paste on one or both of them. It just amazed me that these were closer to the usin a pc compared to Planet Web's crap.

I can't actually read your review, but I'll assume it's bad! :p
Anyway, I used them a bit myself and have every version that came out for the Dreamcast. I never really had any problems with it myself, but I didn't try a whole lot. I also had the keyboard and mouse, so it wasn't like surfing was difficult... but even with the controller, it was a lot like surfing on the PSP (which has gotten worse as sites get more intense... I haven't been able to get to IMDB for a few weeks now, and that was the main site I used on my PSP). Still, I don't let these things bug me too much because I have PC access. I always thought of it like WebTV. Yeah, it sucks, but what did you really expect? For what it was, it was definitely usable, and it's not like I had to pay anything extra for it (unless you bought the version 3.0).
It's funny, I tell people all the time that if they are using Web TV then they need to realize that sites don't cater themselves to Web TV users and they should expect problems! That's kind of how I took browsing with a Dreamcast! I got what I NEEDED with the browser, but I wasn't trying to save the world with it or anything so it wasn't taxed too hard! ;)

I used it a couple of times. It was cool to be able to browse on your TV with DC but nothing a PC can't do better.

The browsers kinda sucked. Only thing I used them for was to download VMU files for a couple games. I only got 1 of the Floigan Brothers downloads before I lost my free connection.

oh yeah not to mention at that point and much later in DC's life broadband connection was really picking up. My family have had cable internet since probably 2002. I remember searching all across the internet for free dial up internet to play DC :SM14 Then I would show m2d it and we'd be good to go. There was one set of #'s we used for a long time but the name escapes me now.
