Is this game playable for anyone not speaking Japanese? It looks like an awesome game with all of the classic Sega cameo's and whatnot, but I don't wanna get myself into something I can't play if it's too text heavy.

I see some pretty good guides out there, but I still wanted to ask you guys since I know some of you have it.

I doubt it's too easy to come by these days, so I'll probably have to pay a decent amount even if I get the chance to buy one. I'd rather know what I'm getting into before I spend the cash, though (if and when I do). Any info is appreciated.

Unless you are using a guide, this game is unplayable to the non-Japanese speaker. :( It's VERY heavy text based, and the only way I could see anyone making it through this is with a guide. Back when I got it, there wasn't a good guide available, but Rose4256 from IGN and I were attempting to figure out the basics of the game. I think she eventually found someone who knew what they were doing and ended up writing a guide, but I haven't looked in awhile.

This is one game that I would have LOVED to have been translated because it really seems like the Sega fans dream game! :x

Damn. It really does seem like a game made for fans, which is probably why the US got screwed out of it. We barely ever get the coolest games. Watching the cut scenes makes me wanna punch Sega in the neck for not localizing it.

Yeah, sadly SGGG is VERY Japanese heavy. But there are several walk throughs floating about for it I do believe.

I too really wish this had been brought over to the US. Maybe if Working Designs weren't a bunch of little girls about the Dreamcast...

That's a shame. About how much does the game go for these days? LE edition and regular if you have an idea.

Thanks for the info, guys

I haven't seen the game for sale in a LONG time, and there don't seem to be any on EBAY either. I have no clue what it goes for now! :(

LE = $110 - 150
Regular original = $60-70
2nd print = $30-50

LE is pimp though. It comes with pins of all the Sega console logos. I wear the Saturn one from time to time. :)

Rose4256 is a guy, btw, He still posts over at the-nextlevel.com as RedCoKid

On IGN "he" was a "girl." So apparantly "he" is one of those "guys" who enjoys pretending they are a "girl." Of course, I don't hold any standards to anyone online, and gender is one of those things that just doesn't matter to me as far as "online personalities" are concerned. I don't have any reason to doubt when someone says they are a guy or girl online, and since it doesn't matter, I don't question it... But on IGN, "he" presented "himself" as a "girl."

I never quite understood why someone would say they are a "girl" online just for the extra attention. Oh well, no hair off my back! Glad I didn't try to hit on "her!" :SM14

I wish I spoke Spanish. :(

I look spanish to alot of people, so they always start up a conversation and I'm always left with a blank look on my face.

And Spanish is the language o' love right?

I was able to get a copy of SGGG brand new. It's the 2nd print, but it's new and $40 shipped is easy to swallow.

I would have liked to get the LE one, but I'm still glad I'll get a chance to play it.

In case anyone else was considering buying it, here's where I bought it:

Heh. I know he always plays female characters in PSO/PSU, too. I don't remember him actually claiming to be a girl, though, I think he just never corrected anyone.

He's a married man, too, so I don't think he has any gender identity or sexuality issues or anything. Maybe he just finds people are nicer to him when they think he might be a she.

Rose4256 is a guy? I remember she/he posted some pics of her(?) and quickly regretted it as all the horny dawgs came out of the woodwork! Well if what you say is true frog, I don't see why the deception, even to the point of posting pics that aren't you.

Ok, I stand corrected. I guess he did lie. Heh. Well let it be known that he's a dude, he's married, and he still plays chick characters in online RPGs. He used the same Rose4256 name on TNL for a while before eventually changing it to RedCoKid.

Our old pal neoalphazero still posts over there too. Maybe I'll point this place out to him. Anyone know what ever happened to RealJustin?

Go for it man. :)

Dunno what happened to RealJustin. Then again I wasn't really on the DCGB after the forums became "private".

RJ was around after the exodus, though. He just sort of faded away. Good guy, though. He sent me a new copy of Mars Matrix when mine was stolen (of course it was Spy who really helped me out with the new DC and accessories).

Well shoot him a PM over IGN and send him over.

Also, I think someone said something about Akira still being around. Not sure though.

But yeah man, anyone you want to invite, feel free to do so. :)

Back on topic, I know some people working on an English version of SGGG. They seem to be making good progress. I recently put them in touch with a DC hacker that helped solve some of the technical problems, and I think now they just have to finish the actual translating.

Bruhaha69

That's awesome. This is great timing for me since I just bought the game. I'm waiting until this is completed before I even try the game out.

The only bitch will be making the backup and patching it. Burning shouldn't be a problem. Christ. I might just try to find the image on an FTP to save me the trouble. I don't have the broadband adapter and I don't have a custom serial cable I can run to the DC. O well. I'll cross that road once the patches are released for download.

Frogacuda

I don't think there's a way for you to backup DC games without special hardware. You might have to download the game to patch it.

Bruhaha69
02-16-2007, 07:54 PM
That's what I figured. O well. I'm sure it's out there somewhere for download.

I hope someone does a DC Rent-a-Hero english patch, too

Anyway, when it finally comes out (and I have no idea how long that will take, by the way) I'll make sure to hook up everyone here.

Awesome. Thank God for people like this (and you too for being in the know). Obviously not much in it for them to do this kind of stuff. They should be given medals as heroes of the gaming community, giving us games we'd otherwise have to learn an entirely new language to play.

The internet is great

Sweet, I can't wait until they finish the patch. I bought the game a while back but haven't built up the mojo to sit through all the Japanese with a gamefaq print out. Is there anywhere we can voice our encouragement?

I haven't seen 645 around, but I'm pretty sure it stalled.

This project (http://www.adilegian.com/Segagaga/), however, appears to be moving still.

So she has a smirk on her face as he is sniffing his finger? I did not know that it was that type of game.

On further inspection it looks like Alex Kidd is about to give her the two finger treatment. Unless it is the OTHER hand! :o
