I guess I'm a "homer" then by your definition. I own both and strongly prefer the 32X version. I'm not basing my opinion of a game only on audio or graphics alone but how responsive and fun it is. I've already explained my stance on this subject elsewhere on this site and don't feel like looking it up.
Infact, I have more fun with the 32X version than the actual arcade versions, and the arcade versions rape all the others in graphics and audio.
OH, and if your only experience with the 32X version is lofi videos on Youtube then you don't even have grounds to claim you know what you're talking about.

I do happen to own the 32X version but I also feel that the control on SNES is better than bothe the 32X and arcade versions.

Then that would be a difference of opinion, but I won't insult you over your preference.

I liked the SNES version the best in terms of overall arcade presentation and feel. I liked the Sega versions for the character models (they looked better to me)
Now I just play the Midway Arcade Classics 2 arcade perfect port, so yeah. :p
I think my favourite classic Mortal Kombat console game EVAR was MK Trilogy on the N64. Great sound, control was nice, no loads!
Yeah, but the arcade version has impossible AI.
As much as I hate to say this, its my understanding that the best version of MK2 is the insanely rare (maybe not even officially released) Japanese PS1 version. Though I cannot imagine a disc based version being better than a 32-bit cart based version.

That's true, I guess I stop playing after the third guy because of the mind reading abilities they possess. Still great for head to head though :p

Well, my preference was always the arcade version... I spent so many quarters playing the arcade game, and against a human opponent, it just doesn't get any better... but Midway's AI almost ALWAYS sucks! It's always cheap and stupid, and it's really not fun to play through single player unless you are simply trying to see the outcome for each character... Which in that case, simply pick Kitana, beat Kintaro, and then lose so you can pick whoever you want to beat the game... Sucks, but her fan lift, jump punch, air fan blade, uppercut/square wave flight was a killer combo that the computer falls for pretty much every time. Sad that you had to play "cheap" (predictable is more like it I guess), but it's how you got things done in the arcade.
As for the home ports, I thought they all sucked! :p I was torn at the time because now the SNES version wasn't edited like the original so it wasn't "instantly inferior..." But the 32X and Saturn had versions coming out too! I ended up getting the Game Gear version and then "permanently borrowed" the SNES and Genesis versions from friends of ours! I eventually bought them off them... but I have to say, that when I got the 32X version, I was REALLY disappointed in all the missed opportunities! It was better than the Genesis, but not nearly as good as the arcade... The Saturn version left me hope, but after the disastrous Sega CD port of the original, I didn't have much faith in it... And it turns out, that it too was super flawed, but now, I too enjoy it on the Midway Arcade Treasures and dance a little happy dance that I'm no longer waiting for that perfect arcade port anymore... It's funny to think that back then, I would talk with friends saying that "If only they'd make a perfect arcade version at home, then I'd never leave the house!" Well, it's here, and while I play it every now and then, it sure hasn't kept me indoors! :p I guess YEARS of waiting (and playing inferior versions) have since mad that claim lose some of it's impact! ;)
I'll have to say that the home version I ended up playing the most of was the SNES version... but I don't know if I'd say it was my favorite in the end... but it was the one that felt truest to the arcade to me, and that's what I wanted in my port.

What is a surpise in when I played the GG version and the music was actually closer to the arcade than the Genesis and 32X version. Oh yeah jp I don't think the PS1 version is no better than the Saturn version.
