GotNext should do a Feature on this end of Sega,
I don't know much about theim and through searches I find alot of dead links or just not much overall info on Sega Rosso. The Official homepage seems to be dead? Not much either at wikipedia.org.
Are they all gone? Whare did they end up? are they still in the gamming world? maybe they were just too short lived?

Pretty much all of the Sega studios except Sonic Team and AM2 were merged after the Sammy takeover in 2004. Off the top of my head, the last games I remember Rosso being credited on were Border Down (they didn't co-develop it or anything, but they provided support, and they're in the credits) and the Initial D games (which rule). I suspect they're still probably working on arcade stuff.
I'll try to do some digging on the actual people and what they're doing now. If I find enough I'll try to do a feature. It's not a bad idea.

Cool, soo they just have been merged into AM2 then right? That's the only arcade end of Sega at this point I guess.

Initial D is the greatest Arcade game, EVER!!!

Apparently a couple of guys from Rosso worked on the Wii Monkey Ball game, but I can't find any info about the big guys. Of course credits for recent arcade games are hard to come by, so if my suspicions are correct, it's going to be hard to confirm.
Initial D is the greatest Arcade game, EVER!!!Definitely one of the best racing games of recent years. Ross knew how to do an arcade racer. I think they best thing they did was Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, though.

Initial D is a very complex game requiring tons of practice and skill. I love it. I wish they released it with a racing wheel for 360.

I've never had the chance to play Initial D, as I'm not much arcade racing fan outside of OutRun, HangOn and the Ridge Racer series, as for the Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, that was da shit! can't beleave Sega never port'd that over to a console of some sort, maybe it was in the contract that it was to be an Arcade exclusive only game? as we all know how Lucas can be.

Star Wars Trilogy Arcade......when I managed at Chuck E Cheese, that was the one game I would stop and play during the afternoon "coin drop".
I think Sega Rally Championship is my favorite AM5 game, though.

maybe it was in the contract that it was to be an Arcade exclusive only game? Bingo. They only bought arcade rights. Also, it came out in 1998, after the Saturn had been retired, but before the DC was out. Most of their games released during that time never made it home, including SpikeOut, Daytona 2, Emergency Call Ambulance, Harley Davidson LA Riders, Super GT... tons of great stuff.

I would kill to play that Star Wars arcade game again!
By the way, did they have anything to do with Star Wars: Racer Arcade?
Now that was one kick ass racing game!
Here we go:

Man I would have Hawk and Washerdryercombo pay whatever to own that 2 seater. I easily put George Lucas' kids through college with the money I spent when that was around!

Yeah, Sega Rosso made that, too. It was indeed a great game, much better than the other pod racer games.

This seems a target more adequately suited for Sega-16, or a Sega-16/GN team-up. Hit up Melf at S-16, he probably has some pretty good info on this.

Melf tends to focus pretty squarely on the 16 bit era. Rosso wasn't formed until well after that.

darth, you really should play, but know that Initial D isn't the kind of game you pick up and play with ease, it's long term, and expensive.

That's misleading. It's definitely a fun game to pick up and play, it just gets better as you go on.

Myogi is the only pick up and play area, and its not much at all.

If you're playing against someone who's been playing for a while, sure, but you can hold it down against the computer right off the bat. At least I could.

Like I said, Myogi. Three guys. Maybe the beginning of Usui, but once you get to Maya and Simone, the frustration will start. By that time you've already spent around $7.

I need to play that game some more. I wonder if my card still works.

No reason it shouldn't, what version did you play? 2 or 3?
DarthArcturus

pardon my ignorance but card?
Hunter

Yeah, you buy a card for a buck, and it saves your game. Everytime you come back, just insert it to load your car, settings, and stats.
I have just attached an image of my RX-7 Cards, you can see my stars for rank, and the boaxes are the names of areas I completed.
Yes, I always carry them with me, I am a sad sad man.

I've played all 3, but mostly 2. I can't remember if I updated my card or not.

Once you update you can't go back. I never played two. I played one, once or twice. I played 3 a lot, started getting back into it again, nowhere near as good as I used to be. Can you TST?

I'm almost afraid to ask this, but: what ever became of Team Andromeda???
~sorry if I'm slightly off-topic ^^;;;

They went kablooie after Panzer Saga. Most of them stayed at Sega and ended up at Smilebit, but some of them went to Overworks, and eventually some of them left Sega going to Artoon, Microsoft Game Studios Japan, and wherever else.
