The Sega threads here made me want to hook up my Saturn again since it has been a few years. So I did, and have been playing Shinobi Legions.
I'm curious what people think of the game. It gets bashed for its digitized look and cheesy cinemas but the gameplay is excellent as is the music. I like how they made defensive moves like blocking more important. I think it's definitely an underrated game.
What do you think it?
Its definitely a solid little game. Personally, I prefer Shinobi 3, but I'm always down for some Shinobi Legions.

I doubt anyone would contest this much.
Legions might get too much flak for embracing an aesthetic generally associated with garbage, but yeah, it's not bad.

I think it's a great game. Making the block button active on a single button press was great. If there's one thing missing from 3, that was it (required a charge, took too long, made blocking less useful). I definitely agree that the defensive importance was a nice addition.
I hope I'm not the only one who played Shinobi 3 purposely avoiding shuriken pickups. One of the best parts about legions (to me) was the focus on the sword instead of the shuriken. Ninja badassness doesn't get much better then sword slashing shurikens right back into opponents. The swordplay was a really nice change from classic Shinobi.
It's one of my favorite Saturn games. I just wish they left the intro cinematic in the US version.

Well I got the import version for like 10 dollars a few years ago. I know that the game was a yellow label but I don't remember any nudity in the intro. I didn't like it at first but it's a good game overall. I just wish Sega would've used animated sprites instead of cheesy digitized graphics.
