I was interested in first class until I overheard some people talking about it and they said, "Oh that one part with wolverine was cool!" "Yeah, that was the best part of the movie!" And then I said screw it.

Really, Hunter, really? It was 3 seconds and had no bearing on the rest of the movie AT ALL. it was funny to have that thrown in there, but even without that scene it was a very good movie.

Come on now, go see it. You might ruin your one chance to see an X-Men movie without Wolverine being involved.

I will likely wait for DVD at this point. Too many other movies I want to see.

Ah, you are missing out. I haven't seen On Stranger Tides and Green Lantern yet. Those might both be home video viewings. I am seeing Transformers on July 1st, and there are definitely a lot of other movies I need to see coming this summer. Whether or not I see them is another thing entirely.

Cars 2 this week. Then transformers next week. Something else after that I believe.

Harry Potter on 7/15 as well. Cars 2 I can hold off on until it hits home.

Saw Harry Potter & TDH Part 2 last night.

Stunning, loved every minute of it. I want to see it again.

Great series, great cast. Amazing performances (in the series) by Alan Rickman and Helena Bohnam Carter, not to mention Daniel Radcliffe, Rubert Grint and Emma Watson. Also loved Evanna Lynch (Luna). Such a well done series of movies.

I saw this, too. Good comedy

Just watched Gamer on Netflix. The movie was surprisingly funny/spot on with its stereotypes of gamers, and the cast was star-studded... Michael C. Hall, Kyra Sedgwick, Gerard Butler. Surprisingly decent action movie, and kind of a neat idea.

Saw Potter yesterday. It was good, but I felt like the movie works better when viewed right after seeing Part 1. The final 45 minutes of the film are very good, although it seems like they passed over a lot of details (and I never read the books and noticed that)

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, a great flick, better than First Flight by a mile. Also Battle: LA. Good movie as well.

I have to say that is true a bit, but considering it was made it two parts you have to expect that. They did a great job with these last two movies in getting as much in as possible. Instead of it just being 2 1/2 hours, it was 4 hours and 40 minutes (or so) for the one book. They left very little out for the most part. Of course it is near impossible to get everything in. I can't wait to watch them both back to back.

Just saw Captain America. Good fun, although I'm beginning to think these movies have suffered a bit because we have to spend time in each of these movies to tie in Avengers. For example, there are so many paper thin characters in this movie, that serve very little purpose and I wish I got to know them better. Having Tony Stark's dad in the movie was a nice tie in but its almost distracting from the main plot IMO

It was cool to see Scifi and WWII themed action on film again. I always enjoy that :)

Hunter

It was a bit thin overall, I agree. The Avengers really limited what they could do with this and that's a shame, but overall I think they did a solid job and I'm happy with it. Problem is, I don't see how they will give him any good modern day sequels, but we'll see.

I saw The Fighter today. Great flick but I knew it'd be. As always, a great performance from Bale. I know he's gotten a lot of hate from the Terminator crap, but he's still a great actor. Totally deserved the Oscar he got for this.

I can confirm. There's a really short extra scene followed by the Trailer after the credits. Looks pretty good.

I liked Terminator Salvation. Maybe because I went in not expecting much, but I enjoyed that movie.

I still want to see Cap. Not sure if I can squeeze it in though.

Well, the hate is not from the movie, but from what happened on set. That said, the film was not generally well received either. I was dissapointed by it on my first viewing, but it's grown on me in subsequent viewings. I do like it now.

07-26-2011, 01:15 PM
Oh yeah, that is when he went apeshit on set. LOL.

I actually saw Salvation in the theater with Newport. Neither of us had seen it yet.
I own the Blu-Ray so obviously I enjoyed it enough to buy it.

Cowboys and Aliens and The Mechanic. The Mechanic was good, but Cowboys and Aliens was awesome. Although it was ruined a bit by the guys I went to see it with. Last time I invite that guy to a movie.

Captain America, really liked it.
I need to somehow find time to see Cowboys and Aliens if possible. The fact that I have seen Thor, X-Men, Transformers, Harry Potter and Captain America is a near miracle. Granted I saw three of them alone, but still I am happy.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Great flick, got me to rewatch Planet of the Apes which I hadn't seen since I was a kid. Still pretty good and the two movies tie in pretty well. Can't wait for the sequel/remake.

Well that is good to hear about Rise of the Planet of the Apes, might have to see this one sooner or later. :)

I watched Due Date and Ip Man over the weekend at my friend's place. Both were good flicks. Due Date was pretty funny and Ip Man was real good. Some great martial art fights.

Saw Conan this weekend. Pretty much what you'd expect. Objectively it's not a good move, but as a Conan fan, it's good times. Terrible writing, mediocre to average acting, but if you go in knowing what to expect, it's not a bad experience. Still hope someone someday makes and awesome Conan movie, but for now, this will do. Of course, it bombed, so it will be some time before anyone attempts it again.

Also saw the Iron Giant for the first time. GREAT GREAT Movie. Recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it, although I imagine I was likely the last person on earth who had yet to see it.

I actually watched Skyline last week while my daughter was napping on the couch (had the headphones on). I couldn't leave to go anywhere and I was too laxy to move so I just put on Netflix. It wasn't a horrendous movie, but it wasn't all that good either. At least it was short.

Luminous

I watched Sucker Punch and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Due to it's terrible reviews it wasn't really on the radar, but Newport convinced me to watch it. Lots of action and it all involved hotties. :D It's not going to rewrite movie history, but I like when movie makers at least make attempts at an original concept in any way. So many re-makes, re-boots, based on books/comics movies that even though this is a take on Alice in Wonderland I like the concept. Yes it is pretty thin in story, but it was enjoyable and I will watch it again.

Battle:LA - decent movie. At the very least it had me rooting for the Marines. Enjoyable enough, not ground breaking at all and not stellar, but not unwatchable.

I saw Green Lantern last night (cheap theater near my parents' that plays movies a couple of months after release). I liked it as well. I still think Ryan Reynolds is perfect for Deadpool (and that is still being made, right), but he was fine as Hal. I am not a big GL fan so I can't say I had any expectations or enough knowledge of Hal Jordan to say if I am disappointed or not, but the film was good enough. X-Men was my favorite of the super hero films I saw (GL, Thor, Cap and X-Men), with Cap a very, very close second. It's my love of the X-Men (and the actors that played Xavier and Magneto) that probably skewed my feelings. Still a pretty good summer for Super Heroes, IMO.

Hunter
08-30-2011, 03:03 PM
Yeah, Cap was the best Superhero movie IMO, and Thor the most meh. None were really bad, and GL was decent.

Watched Renaissance. Decent animated flick, wouldn't recommend it though. On the other hand, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, is one case where I preffered the anime movie to the series. Great movie. I feel the series is overhyped. It's good, but nothing special. The Movie was awesome though, through and through.

So, I have watched a crap ton of movies and TV shows.

Castle season 4 is by far the Best Mainstream(ABC, CBS, & NBC) Network show on right now.

Second fave is "Person of Interest", produced by JJ Abrams and stars Jim Caviziel. He plays the cool underpressure character to a tee. Very slick show and well made.

Movies:

Fast Five - so awesome.
Fast&Furious - not bad.
The Fast&The Furious: Tokyo Drift - best of the bunch.
The Fast&TheFurious 2 - meh.
The Fast & The Furious - the original. Saw it for a fourth time in my life and still love it.

Captain America - not bad. I liked it.
X-Men: First Class - so many Canon problems that it annoyed me to no end and could not get past all the bullshite.
Black Swan - What the Fuck did I just watch ... Mindblown.

Been watching Modern Family, Breaking Bad, and some of the new fall shows. As far as movies go, some norwegian stuff, like trollhunter and dead snow (both awesome, both on netflix), Let the right one in/let me in, some thrillers (all the jack ryan movies, and some mob flicks that i hadnt seen in a while like carlitos way and such).

Hunter
12-16-2011, 07:58 PM
Ah yeah, Breaking Bad! Finally watched the whole thing through recently. Awesome show, even if it is kind of beginning to go off the deep end a bit. I'm kind of wary of next season, but still really hyped for it.

Sounds like a plan.

Watched both Sherlock Holmes and Mission Impossible this weekend. Sherlock Holmes if by far the better of the two. Not that there was anything wrong with MI, it just wasn't as good.

Also, I'm almost finally caught up with Mythbusters. I know I've missed a few episodes, but I'll be damned if I can find them. Too many to sort through. Still, I just need about 7 or 8 episodes before I'm caught up with this season.

I watched Conan and POTC: On Stranger Tides a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed both. Conan was what I expected. Violent and pretty shallow, but I liked it. Pirates was good, but I need to watch it again to see if I am really a fan. Other than that I have been watching Christmas movies. :D

Watched Puss in Boots yesterday and Tintin this morning. Puss in Boots i did not care for. Stupid jokes, good animation, boring til the end. Tintin is great tho. It feels a little too long, or couldve been a tad better paced, but its definitely worth it. The story is great (specially if youve read Tintin before), the animation is superb, and it has an exceptional chase sequence that takes place in Bagghar, Morocco, that is just breathtaking. My favorite sequence in 3d animation history, and one of the best I've ever seen.

Saw Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows today. I thought it was a lot better than the first, but wasnt particularly fond of the way Ritchie handled the ending. Noomi Rapace is wasted, as her role is not very well written, and im still waiting for Ritchie to really make something awesome out of the vast resources he has for these movies.

So I have yet to see either of MI4 or Sherlock Holmes, but last night the wife and I watched Hangover II. There were definitely a good amount of laugh out loud parts and it is raunchier than the first, but it is really the same movie over again. At least they acknowledge that fact as you saw in the trailers. "It happened again". I enjoyed it and seeing as how I borrowed it I have no real negative feelings about it. Funny how spending no money on something lets you see past the negative, lol. :)

I also watched the first two episodes of The Pacific, so far very good.

MI4 was really solid action movie. I was so glad to see very little CGI (that I could tell) across the board for the action pieces. Pixar people need to do more live action movies :) I also saw the Muppets about a month ago and enjoyed it a lot. Got a bit cheesy at the end but i was a nice little fun movie.

There's a lot I want to see in theaters but its just to damn expensive these days. Tin Tin, Hugo, The Descendants, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (won't be as good as the original I'm sure)

I've also watched the Original Trilogy on Bluray finally and man do the films look nice. Don't mind all the minor changed they did this time around other than the god awful NOOOOO added at the end of Jedi :( Of course all the annoying changes from 1997 and 2005 dvd releases are present. Now until to the prequels (yipee!!)

I watched Darkest Hour and War Horse yesterday.

Darkest Hour was very stupid, but ok if you ever find it on tv and have nothing else to do. Popcorn movie.

War Horse is technically superb, but its way too melodramatic for its own good. So much drama ends up making you not take it too seriously, and it kinda drags a bit. But its a good movie overall.

Got back into Red Vs. Blue and wow, they really outdid themselves for Season 6. These guys are really awesome.

Also started watching Penny Arcade TV. It's much better than I imagined. Some really powerful stuff in there. Not at all what I expected.

Finally, I checked out On Stranger Tides. I don't get all the hate. Yeah, it kind of starts to fall apart at the end, but it holds together well enough that I thought is was good fun overall.

Totally finished red vs blue. All caught up and easy for next season. Season 9 was great. Love how they recruited Montyum and started adding action sequences. Wonder if they will move away from machinima at some point.

Also watched Darkman. Enjoyable flick, if really dated.
