This is the Art of War photo. It looks better in person. God, I love this series.

http://www.got-next.com/board/attachment.php?attachmentid=1171&stc=1&d=1185639082

Now I just need to get a case to put it in. This is the first of 4 (possibly 5) that I decided on buying.

O yeah, I wasn't quite sure what board it should go on, but I guess collecting/hobbies qualifies as entertainment.

That is fucking hot as hell. I'm jealous.

I love Berserk.

When I woke up this morning, the post office had called to say I had a package needing a signature....I hadn't been that excited to receive something for awhile.

In case anyone is curious, this is based on the cover of Volume 28 of the Berserk Manga:
http://www.got-next.com/board/attachment.php?attachmentid=1173&stc=1&d=1185641117

It sucks that they make the statues in such low quantities, but I recommend them to anyone who's into Berserk. Very high quality model and painting job.

Next in will be Zodd 3, Zodd with Gatts on his back, and lastly the Skull Knight on Horse 2 (normal version, sans priming sword....d'oh!).

Glad you guys enjoy.......no other Berserk fans on here???? Come on, baby....this is a series worth enjoying. If you haven't read or watched Berserk, please start.....it's very worthy of your time.

I have 2 more coming next week

First one is newly released of Gatts and Zodd (shots from Art of War's website):

http://www.got-next.com/board/attachment.php?attachmentid=1188&stc=1&d=1186011913

Next one is an old sold out one that I bought when I was drunk.....spent a bit more than I wanted to, but that's what I get for whipping out my credit card when I drink. Berserker Armor Gatsu, one more time....exlusive bloody version (shots from the berserk statues website.....I'll remove his and post my own once I get the statue in. Art of War's pictures of this one suck):

I need to start tracking down the localized manga for this. Are they still doing it? How far are they into it?

Loved the DC game and the anime. 'Tis a shame my favorite character (Skull Knight) was nowhere to be seen in the anime though... just a brief glimpse of 'im would've been enough. Ah well.

'Tis a shame there will be no more seasons of the anime as well. :(

Frogacuda

The localized manga is still literally like more than 10 years behind the current story. They need to pick up the fucking pace.

Berserk is actually a very long running series. Been running since the late 80s. It's one of the best stories you'll ever read, though.

Bruhaha69
08-01-2007, 10:27 PM
Damn right, Frog. Probably my favorite story, period.

They just re-released the anime in Japan, I think in hopes to get people more interested. I hope it ends up in more anime, but I'll settle for new Manga if that's the only way to get more story.

The localized stuff is definitely WAY behind, but I read the scan translations because it's too good to wait.....plus, I'll just buy the hard copies when they finally do release them.

I'm pretty sure these guys get rid of the older volumes as they are released. This is definitely one property I would never want to screw out of making money.

Dark Horse is the American publisher:

Hey JP: Didn't you pick up a Skull Knight statue? I'll have a sweet one coming to me next November. Berserk has the greatest characters and relationships. It just kicks ass.

Frogacuda
08-01-2007, 10:35 PM
I actually have real copies of all the japanese books. Just because.

They kinda screwed themselves out of a second season of the anime, by cutting out everything from the first season that offered any kind of foreshadowing of the events to come. So it wouldn't connect well.

The manga is better anyway, so even though I liked the anime, I'm not losing sleep over it.

Bruhaha69
08-01-2007, 10:45 PM
Yeah, I won't cry if there's no additional anime, but I did enjoy seeing some of the manga scenes in full-blown animated glory.

I know not many people here care, but I got another statue in today (Sunday delivery RULES)

These cam out like crap for the most part, but here they are anyway. This is the new Zodd 3 statue. It's awesome. I can't believe the size of this thing. Probably about a foot tall and around a foot and a quarter arm span. This statue just turned a horrid day of work into a horrid day of work with a bit of joy. Bad cell phone picture time:

I may build a custom display for these statues. I'm thinking either a broken open Apostle Behelit (rebirth) or a glass case on top of the hand of god as seen in the Eclipse. It will require my artsy family, though, as I will only be the idea man. If I go this route, it will be the sickest Berserk statue display case of all time.

I need to get motivated on this. I am getting pumped on this idea.

I could stand to catch up on the manga myself, but the current story arc is moving so slow. Some interesting stuff in there, but takes forever for stuff to happen.

Bruhaha69
09-29-2007, 03:45 PM
Yeah, it takes forever for things to happen, but you know when they do, it's awesome. The last few volumes were pretty good and had some good action going on. There are so many interesting pieces of the story with so many great characters, it's just great.

I've been picking up a lot of the resin statues lately. Once I have somewhere to display them, I'll snap some pictures up for anyone that's interested. I might just get a plain old display case to put them in for now. I've spent enough money that I don't want to spend huge bucks on a custom job.

I always buy the manga as they release them translated, but rather than wait, I use scanslations.

I finally got caught up on my Berserk. OMG they finally got on a damned boat for some high seas adventure. They're almost to Elfhelm, which has been their destination for the last several years.

And now I don't even remember why they were trying to get there.

Bruhaha69
10-09-2007, 02:41 PM
I think they're going there mostly to see if they can cure Casca from her madness. I actually didn't read it that long ago, but I believe that was the main reason.

I'm actually surprised I can't remember more clearly. I think Skull Knight mentioned that it may be possible for her to be healed out there.

Frogacuda
10-09-2007, 03:33 PM
That was back in like volume 22. They're up to 32 now so that was like... 5 years ago now. Longest arc evar.

Bruhaha69
10-09-2007, 07:12 PM
Yeah, long time back, but the mission still stands.

The good thing, though, is that even if it takes a longass time to develop, the story has SO much shit going on to look forward to.

Griffith's battle is coming up. That'll have to be cool, even though I hate the bastard and his new Hawks. He and Ganishka should have something cool happening. His new Hawks kick ass, and you know there will be battles with those assholes again.

Guts and crew heading to Elfhelm and you can see how much ALL the ladies are loving him after all his intense battles. Farnese is jealous as hell and I'm thinking she's gonna do something fucked up. Then I also wonder how big a part Roderick will continue to play. Whatever Farnese does will certainly lead to some Guts and Serpico.

Guts' armor and following the same path as the Skull Knight. What's gonna happen to him? is he going to become a demon? haha

The fact that Griffith took the body of Guts' and Casca's demon baby is always hanging out there. The child in the moonlight that they met and what relation it has to their child and Griffith. Meengya. It's just a great story and they've got so many interesting characters in it.

Frogacuda
10-09-2007, 07:47 PM
Yeah, there's a lot happening now. It seemed to be going slow for a long time, but it's really picking back up. I'm just having a little trouble remembering everything. It is a massive story.

The showdown between Griffith and Ganishka is immanent. It looks like Griffith is close to being king again, and Guts is close to his goal. Miura said this is the final arc, and I can't help but feel like it's about to enter the third act.

The foreshadowing really has me on edge. It's very dark, and I care about these characters, but I'm not so naive that I think this series is going to have a happy ending. Some fucked up shit will happen.

And yeah, man, Guts needs to leave some ladies for the others. Even Schierke has the jones for him.

Bruhaha69
10-09-2007, 08:38 PM
O man, I know what you mean. I hate to think of the bad things that will happen, but you're right.....there will be pain and sadness as there always has been. I look forward to more, but I always fear what will happen to Guts and crew. The poor bastard has been through enough, god dammit!

Frogacuda
10-11-2007, 01:52 AM
I just remembered. They were going there because demons can't travel there, so Caska can stay there safely without being in constant peril.

Bruhaha69
10-11-2007, 11:32 AM
Oooooo, yeah. Puck told them it would be safe there. It's easy to forget when it takes them so long to get there. I'm betting it won't be that safe, though. I just hope it's not one of those LotR's things where they find the place has been ripped apart and all the elves are dead.

Well, it finally came in. My Knight of Skeleton II. It's the normal edition, unfortunately, so I lose the priming sword and resident of Qliphoth exclusive material, but it's still a fucking AWESOME statue. This is 1/10 scale, so it's a bit bigger than most Art of War statues.

Bruhaha69
12-29-2007, 10:43 AM
Well, I just got a relatively affordable one. It's made from PVC/ABS so it's not quite as high quality as the resin statues, but it's still painted very well and the sculpt is cool. It's a remake of their older Birth Feast statue. Here are some quick, sloppy, out of focus pictures.....I'll take some better ones when I clear out the memory stick:

http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/6466/img0756ip1.jpg
http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/6069/img0749ex1.jpg
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/6599/img0751qo5.jpg
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/7279/img0752bc4.jpg

The non-bloody version is still available from Art of War and would cost you around $140 with trackable, insured shipping. That's not cheap, but I think it's reasonable compared to their resin statues and probably the best quality PVC I've seen from them to date:

Bruhaha69
12-29-2007, 02:38 PM
Yeah, pretty much the same mold but they changed the cape, removed the articulation and painted the armor with a more metallic look. I still plan on getting the resin original someday, but the bloody one goes for like 6 or 700 bucks, so I'm holding off on it. It's pretty nice compared to the old one. As far as PVC goes, I'm pretty pleased with it.

Bruhaha69

My newest is Guts: Kingdom of Falconia. It's a pretty small one, but it's different for a Guts statue.....no blood, very calm, etc. It comes from this frame in the manga:

If I could edit the title to this, I'd probably do it to say possible spoilers, since a lot of these are based on scenes from the manga. So keeping with that, possible spoiler pictures coming up. My latest is a Guts and Slan statue. Very nice and detailed and actually goes well with the Skull Knight II statue posted on the previous page. The statue is based on this scene (small one as to not spoil too much):
