Hey Guys sorry I meant to post this two days ago when Hunter Notified me that Frog and other listeners were getting "Skipped" Artist\Album Info
The Reason for this error is either because the way the ID3 Tags are being written\encoded by the default windows process in the properties tab is causing a Software conflict on the server which our music streams off of

Or the less likely reason for the malfunction is that you guys are puttin "illegal" chararcters In the ID3 Tag
According to Stream Solutions, you can ONLY have Alpha-numeric chararacters with no underscores or any of the shift characters

Just In case the windows tab process is the cause of the error , I suggest using this program which is free

http://www.ultratagger.com/

OR:

http://www.nch.com.au/tageditor/index.html

Other than that please be MORE CAREFUL when you type in the ID3 Tag info

Thanks

Hmm... I thought the illegal character thing was just for file names. I'm sure I've seen info tags that contained parentheses and apostrophes and the like. I'll keep an eye on it, maybe that is it.

Also, I use Winamp to name do my ID3 tags, not Windows. Dunno about others.

heh well..,
It's either the illegal character thing or one other possiblity which i doubt may i might say!
for some reason the server might be using a different ID3 Tag verision...
I checked the offical ID3 Website and the current version is 3.0
Stream solutions has told me that they may be using 2.0-2.5 but they did not make that clear just told me that ID3 2.5 causes problems.... I believe for as for as I know, that winamp should encode the ID3 Tags correctly and that the latest version prolly supports all versions of ID3 but. I'll get back to you and see what version Stream Solutions are using but in any case in my experince , any version of ID3 should work as they are standardized , backwards compatibile and accepted but in this case , Stream Solutions may be using Properitary software for the CDS so it may be picky about what version

I've seen ID3 tags with tilde in them, and they displayed fine. As for what program the MP3s were tagged in initially, I couldn't tell you for the majority of mine (unless they were Sonic-related, as the vast majority of those I ripped and/or tagged myself). However, all of my ID3 tags are carried over when I convert the MP3s to new 56kbps mono files, so they're "new" ID3 tags therefore. Up-to-date and what not.

If I notice any particular characters which don't seem to be working, I'll post about them. To note, though, I've had comment fields with the following symbols in them work: ~ # | - ( )

Can't think of any others off-hand.

Oddly enough, "Lava Reef" from the "Sonic 3 & Knuckles Remix Album" is missing its artist field, but it doesn't have any special characters in it which other songs haven't displayed. In fact, every field is displaying except that one. Though it has an ampersand in it, plenty of other tracks with ampersands displayed them.

Odd indeed.

Colons seem to mess it up sometimes, too.

It's odd, extended characters seem to mess it up sometimes, but not others, but I haven't seen any missing fields that have zero extended chars at all.
