good old angry nintendo fan. I enjoy most of his stuff to tell you the truth.

I don't like Angry Nintendo Nerd, because he falls into the trap of narrating what he's playing which is universally boring and unfunny.

This I like, because it's more premeditated. He's not watching the movie and trying to quip, the voiceover comes first, and the clips are edited to fit, which is the way it should be. If he did that with his game stuff I'd like it more.

I can't stand the Angry Video Game Nerd for reasons posted in another thread. I'll have to check out the link, though.

I can't stand him either (for the gaming stuff, not CineMassacre). I know he's attempting to be funny but he just comes off as a know-nothing Nintendo fanboy with no real knowledge or appreciation for Atari or Sega. The only amusing thing about him is his goon-like accent which works well for the whole angry gamer thing.

I never noticed the accent, but then he and I are both from the Philly area.

NeoZeedeater

You don't have the same accent as him. I wouldn't describe yours as goon-like at all.

Yeah, people here always think I'm from elsewhere. I somehow formed my own accent not specific to where I live.

In Florida, people asked me if I was from England. I suppose this is because I spoke without mumbling and repeating words a lot, and usually did so rather correctly. In California, no one can ever guess where I'm from.

English-speaking misfits, unite.

(I would contribute something more on-topic, but I've never watched any of this "Angry Specific Gaming Company Nerd" mess.)

 I used to get the England thing when I was a kid, but my accent was a little different then (I said my short "A" differently. more the British way). I also get Texas, California, Oregon... no one can figure it out.

Though truth be told, you don't sound the slightest bit British, either, so I think it has more to do with Floridians being unable to comprehend how an American can use proper grammar and so many "big words."

Frog has more of a Southern Jersey/Philly accent. And Philly I mean Germantown, not Center City (yo!).

Mantis says I have an accent. Eh ... I guess.

I don't really have a philly accent. At least in that people from Philly think I have some kind of strange accent. I don't have a lot of the telltale pronunciations of the philly/south jersey accent, either (saying "water" "wooder", etc).

lordsnarf has the south jersey accent all the way though.

How about eagle? Do you call it an igle?

Frogacuda
10-14-2007, 05:38 PM
Nope. I'm philly to the bone in most ways, but the accent isn't one of them for some reason.

Cause like I said you have a mix of south and philly.

Weird. I have never been to Philadelphia but I can't picture anyone pronouncing eagle that way. That's liking saying "eat" as "ite".

Yeah, it is weird. My grandfather was from the Philadelphia area and that's how he used to say it. I thought it might have just been him, but all his family and friends from back home said it too, haha. Really weird to hear, but I suppose the Boston accent sounds pretty stupid to a lot of people, too.

Another one I think he said funny was radiator. He'd say rad-E-ate-or instead of raid-E-ate-or. I always thought that one was more of a southern accent, but apparently, it made it's way down there from PA.

South Jersey and Philly both say "wooder" instead of "water" though.

Iggle. Rhymes with Jiggle. Doesn't rhyme with Rob Smeigel.

My mom says War-Ter, not wooder.

She's born in Philly and lived in South Jersey for over 30 years. So, I tend to know what I'm talking about here Travis.

You have a mix of South and Philly. More specific .. South Jersey aka attitude and sarcasm and Philly ... aka Port Richmond or Germantown. NOT SOUTH PHILLY which everyone associates The Philly accent from. I know I said this before ... oh yeah I did 3 posts up.

Yeah, the South Philly accent is totally different. It's very similar to Brooklyn. I'm not talking about that.

Well shockingly Frog thats the only Philly accent people outside the parochial area think of as a Philly accent.Yeah, and they all think people from New Jersey say "Joisey" when that's pretty much just people from 1930s Alabama.

But I'm from the same area as you. I don't have these misconceptions.

And thats why I don't think you have a strange accent. You sound like my mom who's a mix of south jersey and Port Richmond, Philadelphia, PA.

I didn't like his review of the Sega CD but he was right about the 32X and he reviewed the 5200 which I heard is crap. He did say that the best version of Ghostbusters was on the Genesis and that the MS version was a little better than the NES version.
