I think Mr. Wright should check with Mr. Perry and see what he thinks of Spore. Because, as we all know, if he doesn't like a game, it's just plain not gonna sell. This is clearly evidenced by the dastardly sales of the Wii.

Oh shit, sorry about that guys. I think I just had a fanboyish moment. I tend to black out and do crazy things sometimes. The last time that happened was in '06 when I voted for a democrat. I was washing my hands under scalding water for the rest of the week.

Big news indeed. The fact that Spore is appearing on the Wii was enough to catch my eye...the game itself has been a low blip on my gaming radar for some time now. Surely won't look as nice...

Ok, Wii Spore has my attention. If they can keep it as the full game, and not a stripped-down console-fied version, I'm all over it.

Andrew's obsession with Dave Perry is starting to scare me.
Also, the Wii is not a next gen system.
And Spore's lead platform is going to be the PC. Stop fronting.
But the Wii IS a next-gen system...
... last gen. :rimshot:

Would you really call it a generation ahead of Gamecube.
Wii is in the same gen as 360 the way SuperGrafx is the same gen as Playstation.

It was awesome. And also only slightly better looking than what was on TG-16.

"The Wii feels like a major jump--not that the graphics are more powerful, but that it hits a completely different demographic," he continued. "In some sense I see the Wii as the most significant thing that's happened, at least on the console side, in quite a while."
*Sniff Sniff* Does anyone else smell money passing hands?

Honestly, I do think that Spore is probably a good match for the Wii's target audience. Wright's games are among the few that appeal to the casual as well as the initiated.

I don't think parallels that well. The SuperGrafx came out in 1989 in the early part of the 16-bit console era while the Wii did come out a generation after the GC timewise.
I think console generations have always been defined as much by when they are released on the market as technology.
DC-PS2-GC-Xbox = last gen.
360-Wii-PS3 = current gen.
? = next gen.

The wii didn't come out a year after the GameCube, but it could have, That's my point. It's not a generation ahead in anything but time.

I think discussing the Wii's place in comparison to the current round of hardware is more than a bit pointless. It's here for at least the next several years, we know what it can do, and there's really not much more to say. Gamecube 1.5 plus motion controls = five whole words.
