PSP: Slim/Lite/2000/Electric Boogaloo, whatever you wanna call it.
Anyone own one?
Did they fix the D Pad and Buttons from the fatty? I heard they were raised, but were they raised enough? Since I don't wanna have to mod the system just to play games like Alpha 3. I'm gonna be in Tokyo soon and the temptation of buying titles like Initial D Arcade Stage is gonna be too much.
Is the slim a solid system with the controls fixed?

From what I hear, the D-pad is raised high enough that people can play Gradius collection the way God intended. But the system itself feels made of El Cheapo plastic all over.

Yeah a kid in one of my art classes one day dropped his PSP on the floor, and the entire back of the case popped off! I don't know the dude so I didn't get a chance to ask him about it, but he only dropped it a few feet.
Is the first PSP of a higher build quality as far as material goes?
I'm sure a good 70% of the price of that system comes from the huge LCD screen, that's why they cheap out on things like the UMD door and the casing.

Both PSPs and the DS Lite are made of much more brittle plastic than they should. It looks nice, but it isn't durable.

The PSP Lite isn't the most durable thing in the world, but I don't think the original was all that tough either. If you aren't some button smashing maniac whose clumsy, the system should survive. The buttons and D-Pad which are raised slightly are much better for the fighting games than that old shitty one. The weight difference between the two is ridiculous. All I can say is that it does feel really cheap, but the positives of the system out weigh the negatives to the point where I can overlook them.
