So many idiots at retail stores break street dates; I wonder what the story behind this one is lol.
Oh how I wish death upon you fucker!!!

"Did anyone process that new shipment of games yet?"
"Nope, it's still sitting out back."
"Well get 'em on the floor, they're not going to sell themselves there!"
And everyone lived happily ever after, the end.
I love a story with a happy ending. :)

So how is it?

Careful, dude. As I always like to say, learn from history. Not too long ago, some lucky individuals got their hands on retail copies of Halo 3 prior to the release date. That's when we learned that Microsoft can be quite vindictive if you have the audacity to sample the goods prematurely...
Caveat emptor.

yeah I'm a bit worried about that. I probably should unplug my network cable when I boot up Mass Effect.
I played a bit. Character creation is pretty sweet. Not as deep as Oblivions but still deep enough to make your guy look like yourself. So far the graphics are amazing and the characters really look life like. Haven't had any combat yet, but I shall play much more today.

Mystery of gaming- seeing as you can make the guy on screen look like anything, why would you want to make it look like yourself? What's next, copy/paste your head over Harrison Ford's in Raiders of the Lost Ark?

It can be fun, taking more steps to actual role playing I think. Then again I'm the guy that gets all happy when I see game credits state: ....and a very special thanks to......YOU. XD

Yeah, I never named characters after myself in old school RPGs and I never make them look like myself, either. I don't relate to games that way.

I don't make the characters like myself or give them my name. I usually go with blanks and get whatever name they auto-assign but still, I don't think it's ridiculous to see why someone would want to do that. I prefer to play my games taking the role of someone else, but what's so hard about understanding why someone would want to imagine themselves in the role of the main character?
I think there's a big difference between watching a movie and interacting with a video game.

I dunno I like the idea of having myself playing the role a hero in an RPG
So I finished the first "mission" I guess you could say. Good stuff. I like the combat, although took a bit to figure out. Basically just a 3rd person shooter with all the equipment changes typically in a RPG. You have pistols, assault rifles, snipers, and some other gun types. I have not messed with the biotic and the other powers yet. Some of the aliens seem to all look like elites in halo which is a bit odd.

The ending of PDSaga must've made you go nuts then. :p

Fun fact:
The guy who voiced the Arbiter in Halo 2 and 3 also does voice work in this game, as an alien no less.

actually he is a human captain ;)
fun fact: The voice of Carth in KOTOR is voice of one of the first party members you get. :)

Dude.... you better watch achievements cause you can earn those offline then when you connect it will still post them to your profile. So if your trying to be sneaky you probably should not connect online at all till the street date.
Oh I almost forgot....... FUCKER!!!!!!!!!!!! :p

well....combat so far hmmm. Not sure about it. Feels mostly like a water downed 3rd person shooter now. Using the back button for grenades was a horrible decision although the rest controls are fine (strangely x and y both make your character get out their weapons) When in combat y is used for health packs. Also I'm not finding any screen that gives me a real detailed look at the stats for my character.
With that aside the presentation and interaction with other characters is amazing. Lots of similarities with KOTOR as far as traveling through the galaxy but with way more options and sweet looking galaxy map. I have already ran into 5 different side quests while completing the 2nd main quest segment. So yeah theres a lot of stuff to do. Oh and I think one of the girls likes me

Just so you guys know.....
If you want the limited/collector's edition version of this game its apparently only available online at the evil empire I mean EB/Gamestop.
I just figured that out and switched my preorder. Man it pisses me off how you have to "figure out" where and how the fuck to get limited/collcetors editions. Fucking pretarded I tells ya.

Crap I better switch my preorder at Gamestop to the Collector's edition. Damn I was all excited that I had the game totally paid off already. Now I might have to spend another $10.
Oh well. I have no idea when I am going to play this game.

I've been playing Spyro the Dragon lately on my old Playstation. It's so addictive that I can barely get any housework done today.
Yeah, it's a switch from playing Rainbow Six Vegas for 6 months to this:

right here fool thats several days ago.
The planet I'm on now is way more interesting than the first one I went to. Very similar to solving problems your own way like in KOTOR. Deciding who to help and how, who to kill and not to kill, and finally who to snitch on :sneaky:
I'm feeling a little better about the combat because now I have a really strong biotics character. Those powers are pretty sweet to use. However biggest problem is the dumbass AI of your party members. Seriously half the time they are shooting the damn wall.

It's WarPath, a mediocre multiplayer Halo ripoff from the guys that did Unreal Tourney. It might have been ok if there were enough people to play with, but as you can see the bots are unfathomably dumb. They become obsessed with trying to get inside of walls like that.

Oh I loved KOTOR. One of the best games ever!! 10/10
I have to say, it was a masterpiece.
KOTOR2 disappointed me a little. The characters never really interacted in depth like in the first one, which I thought was one of the best parts of KOTOR....rich character development.
DarthArcturus
11-15-2007, 12:15 AM
character development is easily on par with KOTOR if not better. Whats really improved is the decisions you have to make. They have way bigger implications later in the game and the mass effect universe
