View Full Version : Super Mario Galaxy Gamestop Call

Okay, did anyone else here pre-order their copy of Super Mario Galaxy at Gamestop? I just got their friendly reminder phone call, and it was quite different than usual. The guy that voices Mario left the message, and it was quite interesting. It actually transcends the barrier from "super-gay" to "uber-hilarious." I saved it and I wish I could put it up. It's just that good. Anyone else get that call?
(As an aside... fuck Gamestop for always being a day late with my new releases. I've seen retail copies of Galaxy everywhere today... everywhere but Gamestop. It seems the fucknuts here always get their new releases a day after the actual release date. Either that, or they're just too fucking lazy to sell them on time. Whatever the case may be, this is my last time pre-ordering shit through these cocksucking assholes.)

I saw this on youtube and I thought it was a gag, heh.

At first, I thought so too.

No, I haven't heard it. Alas, Gamestop didn't bless me with a Mario message for my online pre-order. It was on Kotaku, though, so I'll dig it up some time.

Alright, I picked it up during lunch, waited five grueling hours, and now I'm getting ready to pop it in. I'll be back later with impressions you couldn't give two shits less about. Happy Tuesday!

I never pre-order. I just walked into the mall and bought Super Mario Galaxy. So far it's really cool. I don't expect it to go all tedious like Sunshine did.
I do not do the pre-ordering either. I can usually snag whatever I need at work, unless its a game that Target doesn't carry. In which case, I just go to one of the 10 local game stores and pick it up.
That said, I shall buy it tomorrow morning.

Mario Galaxy is amazingly fun. I had it reserved for the coin freebie (I'm a sucker for that stuff) but ended up getting it at TRU for the $25 gift certificate. Honestly, a Mario this good needs no incentive. I love the way it plays with gravity, and the camera seems to be smart enough to stay out of the way. I can't wait to get some more time in later tonight.
Also, multiplayer is great fun. The way the second remote lets a non-gamer still have fun works incredibly well, although I personally wouldn't want to be the second player.

Don't worry. While the case it comes in impressed me, the coin itself feels very light and cheap. It's nice to have, but not something I would lose sleep over.
As for the game, I need to get back to it. Now. (I should have taken a week off from work.)

I like the coin that game with Sonic Adventure 2.

I got the coin anyway. You're right, it is kind of cheap, but I can't say I expected different. :)

I want to play this game pretty badly. To bad there is no wii around for me :(
so...how do you like it? Everyone seems to be screaming "GOTY" and "Best Game Ever!" etc etc etc....
what do you think?
I really want it. I probably won't be able to afford it until next year, though.. money's tight.. Fire Emblem just came out, I ended up buying Otamarama yesterday, and Unreal Tournament 3 is right around the corner. =(
I heard that the call was pretty cool.. but that Mario ends up droning on for two minutes about reservations and trades. :p
That's lame that your Gamestop didn't have Galaxy on the 12th, Squall.. I know that my store was selling copies on Monday. =/
As for the coin.. I figured it'd come loose or something and be pretty useless. It's actually got its own packaging with a spine title and everything. Now I wish I'd gotten one.

Yeah, Wii = next year for me. Way too much shit going on.
Well, I bought it today before work, lol. My class is in computers and it's sitting right behind me on the table. My buddy is coming over at 4, which is about when I will be getting home....then grocery shopping....so, maybe around 8pm I'll get to dive in and play. I just want today to go by quickly, LOL!!! At least my wii will get some gaming. Got the Bigs and RE4 and got in a game of baseball and NO re4...so it's about time I bust that wii back out for some gaming. If only I could take tomarrow off, lol.

I posted some impressions on the main page. While doing so, I viewed the game completely apart from the raves you mentioned.
Long story short, I quickly came to the same conclusion. It's reminiscent of other Mario games, and yet at the same time it's unlike anything you've played before. I'm still looking for a negative mark.

Yep, he goes on about trades and whatnot. And yep, my store sucks ass, but I guess that's what I get for living in the asshole of America. I preordered SimCity Societies from them because of a cool preorder offer, but nothing more after that. I really mean it this time...

Flik, where the hell have you been? O_O Welcome back, good friend! :wtf:
I got mine through the mail this morning, but I had to go to work...so I barely scratched the surface. Nice intro (love the resurrected airship theme!), and the game controls quite well. I'm so far very happy.
Nice impressions btw, squall. Dammit, ten more minutes til a half hour drive!
