New Canadian-based Eidos studio heading the project up. Fuck them

The next installment in the Deus Ex RPG/action franchise is under development at Eidos' new Montreal studio, and its official title is Deus Ex 3, according to the company's web site.

In May, IGN reported that Eidos was working on the game, but details were - and remain - scarce. A teaser trailer is up at the Eidos site, and the company has several open positions listed.

IGN partner site Voodoo Extreme quotes Eidos managing director of studios Rob Murphy as saying, "Deus Ex is one of our finest franchises, often cited as one of the best PC games of all time. By developing this game at our new cutting-edge Montreal studio we have the opportunity to really push the boundaries of expectation for Deus Ex 3."

Deus Ex is an action RPG series created by Warren Spector and Ion Storm and was originally released by Eidos in 2000. A sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War, was released in 2003, but since then the series has been dormant. Ion Storm shut its doors in 2005.

Yeah, I'd heard about this. Honestly, I don't have a whole ton of hope for it without Spector. And now he's working for Disney. :p

No Warren Spector, no Harvey Smith, and no Sheldon Pacotti among others makes me very wary. When this was first announced I hoped it would be considered a spin-off but it looks like it's officially part 3. Part of me is still excited though as no one has really attempted to "out-Deus Ex" Deus Ex-style design yet. Other games have only taken bits and pieces of influence from it.

Hmm...Maybe I should just go play Deus Ex 2.
I'm gonna approach this one with cautious optimism for now.

Well, the good news is that it can't really let you down. At worst, it'll match everyone's expectations. I still haven't played the first, but I thought the second one kicked ass.

You know I loved Deus Ex 2 on the xbox. The ammo scarcity later in the game kinda messed me up combined with my saves so I never finished it. I'll let you guys keep a close eye on this one and I look forward to your updates.

Eidos still exists?

Edit:
Nevermind, I guess they had to be the ones behind the surge of Tomb Raider stuff as of late.

The need to make a new Legacy of Kain game. Deus Ex 2 was ok. Never played the original.

The original is easily better. It's bigger, has more depth, and is just more ambitious.
