Nice that Blizzard decided to start making real games again (this and Starcraft 2).

This just means months if not years of my friend Gerry not shutting up about Diablo 3 :)

I still play SC ocasionally and can't wait for SC2. This is also going to be the shit as I am a RPG fanatic
I played Diablo II for five or six years and did pretty much everything there was to do in that game. I had at least one level 90+ character for every build of every class, competed in the softcore and hardcore ladders, PVP tournaments, etc.
Suffice to say, this is big news for me. I'll be the first in line at midnight.

This game looks awesome. I always wanted to jump into Diablo and this seems like the perfect chance.
I played the first Diablo for a bit. It was pretty neat. I enjoyed it more than Starcraft (which, honestly, just suffered from being vastly overshadowed by Total Annihilation).

Though Starcraft has now outlived TA ... and its used in online competitions more than TA. TA was a good game yes, but it was far easier to exploit than SC. If you had a good South Korean player vs a good south korean player. The game was not only watchable, but entertaining too.
Well, Cavedog kinda committed suicide with Kingdoms truth be told. My Dad nor I were fans of that one (though my Dad did play through the entire game, the old man had some dedication to Cavedog, I'll give him that. Then again, TA has been the only game he's played since it came out over a decade ago... ).
I dunno. There may be balancing issues and this and that and blabbity blab, but at the end of the day, I had WAAAAAAY more fun playing TA than I did Starcraft. Not being limited to the units you could control, being able to amass vast armies and send them in, it was just... awesome.
One day I need to snag Supreme Commander for the PC.

But if you had like 2 of those powerful tanks(I forget the name) and a nuclear reactor (aka missle) your vast army was eliminated before they left the base. Since the tanks had a HUGE viewable range and their attack distance was like 2/3's of the map. ADD TO THE FACT the missle was like the one in SC, but you didn't need a ghost, cause the damn tank could see your base.
TA was so rigged to one side. If you were able to rush up your skill tree ... and reach the nuclear reactor. The other side was toast. SC was about strategy and both sides were on even levels of the skill tree. It was more of ... which units to pick that will be better than what you THINK your opponent picked.
Again TA was fun ... but in no way was it more competitive.
mind you I loved SC and I am south korean. Though I was no where near as good as those guys.

SC talent is something in the water, not the bloodline.

"I don't have a spell ready"

I also believe that TA is the best RTS game out there. I love it, I played that game to death. I didn't really get into the campaign, but I never do with these games; just gigantic skirmishes. It was so open-ended... like the unit pack you could download that added ~500 units to the game.
Hell, I even made a unit at one point.
Supreme Commander is nearly as good. About as good as I would hope for from a current-gen "iteration". I still play it, though I haven't picked up Forged Alliance quite yet.

Hell yes man. Playing skirmishes was where it was at! Just put it on the highest difficulty and go at it. Because then, even if you have an ISLAND full of nuclear silos, you will won't be able to wipe out the enemy until you march there and finally take them down. God, I had skirmish games that I played for weeks. :drooling:
Campaign was good though. Thats what my Dad always plays. Well, his big thing is the Krogoth encounter from Core Contingency. He just plays that over... and over... and over... and over...

Damn, this is awesome. I loved the stories on both games. Never got to finish either though. The first one was SO fun. The second was good too.
