Themes supported by new Dashboard

Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has settled it. "It" being the question of whether Xbox 360 Dashboard themes downloaded (and even purchased) before the upcoming New Xbox Experience (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/16/video-walkthrough-the-new-xbox-360-dashboard/2) rolls out later this year will be rendered useless with the switch to a different UI. The answer's a welcome one: they'll work just fine with the new Apple TV (http://www.apple.com/appletv/features.html)-esque interface.

To (literally) illustrate the point, Major Nelson uploaded images of the NXE with an existing theme applied to his flickr gallery (http://www.flickr.com/photos/majornelson/2674486108/in/photostream/). It isn't explicitly stated in the accompanying captions, but we'd venture a guess that the background image will change as you page through the new category "frames." With this mystery solved, you can now go back to complaining about all of the things you actually wasted money on.

Yeah, it looks sweet. I'll finally get to appreciate my Darkness and Condemned themes without all the shit over them. That's especially good news for people who paid for themes.

Maybe if my Avatar could be a Spartan (any armor), Elite, ODST or maybe a Brute I would think about it. I don't like the cute little person that is supposed to represent me. Can he be a Gen 1 Transformer....say Grimlock? Then we can talk. ;)

Damn straight, I do have Soundwave as my gamer pic right now. I bought the Gen 1 themes and gamerpics. :D Yes, I bought them......I know I am a sucker.

There are G1 themes and pics you can buy? I took the shot of my Megatron gamerpic myself... hmmm....

I hope games really make use of unlocking stuff.. like the Transformers 2 game unlock different TF related avatars (MS said it was possible).
