Major Nelson, the Xbox Live Director of Programming, has posted a list of the top 10 most-played games over Xbox Live, revealing that Halo 3 is once again at the #1 spot. Soon after Call of Duty 4 was released, Halo 3 fell to a second place, while the release of Grand Theft Auto IV saw Bungie's first-person shooter in a third place.

To be honest I have yet to play the new free map in matchmaking. So I don't know how much that map did in terms of bringing Halo back on top.

But I think GoW especially will see a surge as we get closer to November and the release date for GoW2.
