View Full Version : Street Fighter IV Collector's Edition question.

The anime DVD movie that comes with the Collector's Edition of the game, is it going to be available in standard DVD format outside of the game package itself? I want to see the movie, but I can't afford to drop that much money on a Collector's Edition version of Street Fighter IV to watch it. It's the only thing in the Collector's Edition that I REALLY want, but I'm really just wanting to watch it once, and then it would probably be shelved in favor of just playing the game. If it's going to be on DVD elsewhere, then I won't feel too bad about not getting the Collector's Edition of Street Fighter IV! ;)

It's an exclusive, for now. They will probably release it as a stand alone much later. But dude, just wait a couple days and a torrent rip of the movie will be online, since the PS3 one is a bluray disc, that's how i'm gonna watch it. I don't even play fighting games anymore.

You know I was walking by a Gamestop the other day and noticed they are releasing limited edition fighting pads for thsi game. PS3 and 360. Reminds me of the LE pad I got for the Dreamcast back in the day that was Street Fighter themed.
I believe I'll be picking up the game (probably not collectors) and one of the limited pads. Wireless plus six face buttons...... looks like an old saturn controller only no wires. Hopefully the dpad is rock solid or I'll be bummed.

Dude, if you're buying the PS3 version just get one of the PC Magicbox adaptors offline, then you can use any saturn, PS2 or dreamcast pad on the PS3, they all work. I use a saturn pad for Megaman 9 and SSF2HD.

I just saw there's a costume pack for 5 of the characters costing 320 points......the fucking game isn't even on store shelves and DLC is read to be bought, ey Capcom? Go fuck yourselves, you dirty whore bastards. The fact that they're obviously going to make separate packs for separate groups of characters is even more infuriating. Sons of fucking bitches.

SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4! HOW COME THERE'S NO VIDS IN HERE!?! I SHALL FIX THIS BLIGHT ON SESTREN!
Some info first.
New characters: They added just a few new characters ... Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Cody, Guy, Adol, and a completely new character Juri. They also have 4 more slots on the character select screeen, yet revealed. Some speculate that the last 4 will be SF3 characters; Dudley, Makoto, Ibuki, and another new character Hakkden (sp?).
All characters new and old get 2 Ultras.
Online mode has the same mode that HDRemix had ... Quarter mode. Up to 8 people can chat and watch the two guys going at it.
They also have 4 on 4 mode. Two guys team up to face off against two other guys. Its like the old time tag teaming in the arcade. One guy goes then the next round the partner takes over.http://iplaywinner.com/superstreetfighter4

The Madcatz sticks are great. I never should have modded my stick. The buttons ... YES MOD! The stick itself was great. The TE sticks I have heard are so perfect that you don't have too, the only reason you'd want to is to decorate it different.
You know how you guys are hyped for Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2? That's how hyped I am for SSFIV. I don't care for those games, hence my lack of posting in there. Gimme Halo: Reach or SSFIV info and I am ON IT LIKE A FAT MAN ON FREE CAKE AND DORITOS!

Also: Pay Attention to Amazon.com. They sometimes have sales for the sticks.

If you REALLY want a MadCatz pick one up, but mod the buttons. Go here ...
http://www.lizardlick.com/pages/pushbuttons.shtml
I chose the Seimitsu buttons, very easy to change. For the stick I have which is the now 60 buck stick. Four screws at the bottom; unscrew, open ... disconnect the buttons by turning the wire. Pop on the new ones. And screw back into place. SO EASY!
Everything inside the sticks are easy for modding.

So, how are you liking it Advocate? I want the game, but I a) can't afford it right now and b) don't feel like I've "finished" everything Street Fighter IV has to offer me! I'm still working on the online games won/played, and I hope that the online community for regular IV will still have people playing! Had I not gotten the Red Ring, then I'd probably already have my 500 wins needed for the crown icon, but for now, I'm sitting on around 250 I think. Still a ways to go, but I didn't get into the online play much until I had really done most of the offline stuff first.
Sad too, because I main Guile, and from what I've heard, they've improved upon him in Super. I have a hard time with Balrog players, and the Ken/Ryu/Akuma/Sagat players annoy me to no end, even though I beat them about half the time. I've REALLY found some tough competition online though, and it's scary, because I almost think I've hit a "peak" where my skill level puts me in a tier that I just get SMOKED at now, and can't win at all instead of having some fairly balanced matches and come out winning a good number of them! I guess it's time to go back to other online modes to try and stand a chance, but it seemed to me that Player match was where some of the REALLY good players hung out. I guess Ranked is the best place to try since it moves me up and down the ladder based on wins, so if I start getting too high, then I can at least be knocked back down with some losses. Ugh! I just remembered that I have once again forgotten to bring my fight stick home from Melanie's house, so I'm planning on waiting until I have it back, because the fight pad has the buttons too close together and that causes problems for me... and we all know how great the regular 360 pad is for Street Fighter! ;)
I do have to say I'm a bit disappointed in the achievements for this one being mostly the same as SFIV. The regular SFIV has some of the most difficult/time consuming achievements out there! I really think I can get a full 1000/1000 with some more time (and MAYBE a boosting partner for the 30 time over wins), but to do it all over again... I'm not sure I have it in me... but then again, I do LOVE me some Street Fighter! It's not like I haven't played SFII, SFIII, SF Alpha and all the other versions to DEATH! I'm sure I could easily double my SFIV play time... it's just a bit disheartening. :(
Now, if I could just READ some of those stoopid challenges... I'm really starting to feel the need for a new TV with HD capabilities after having had so many problems reading text on SO MANY 360 games! :( *sigh*

No, I do not have the game I need money first. From what I hear even though Guile has the least amount of upgrades. The ones they did to him were so subtle, that it brought him back to SF2: CE levels. Hence, why so many used him within the first week of play.
For example: the overhead upside down kick is useful again, You can combo in knee smash, to flash, to Ultra 2- Sonic Hurricane.
HawkClay
05-04-2010, 07:37 PM
Really? I had been hearing that Guile was one of the more improved characters. He's really the only one I played as in IV, and I do think he has some MASSIVE shortcomings in IV, but I was still able to hold my own for the most part.
One thing I was hoping for was a better juggling game for Guile. For example, in Street Fighter III Third Strike, Remy could go from a crouching HP to his Flash Kick Super move (forgot the name). Guile's Super/EX in IV were SO spotty, and you could easily hit with ONE hit only to miss with all the subsequent hits! ESPECIALLY against a jump, which I just thought felt odd. I'd love to have him be able to uppercut into his Super/Ultra like Remy's, but oh well. I pretty much gave up on ever trying to use Guile's Super/Ultra in IV and just used the Super meter for EX Sonic Booms against projectile spammers or the EX Flash Kick against a Focus Attack. With the Sonic Hurricane back, I'll likely stick to that one now, even though I always like the Sonic Flash better... unless they fixed it for Super, and I may reconsider!
As for the overhead upside down kick, that was something they changed in Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD so that it hits a crouching opponent, even if they are blocking! I can't tell you how much I'd punish people with that! You could keep them guessing by walking up and hitting with that, a few times and then throw out a sweep and they'd be guessing the whole game! It was pretty fun! I'll have to play around with it using as the start of a combo, but that sounds cool if it's something that can be pulled off easily with some practice.
Dang! I need to get my fight stick back so I can play some more SFIV now! :p I've been playing Final Fight lately, which is somewhat of a prequel to Street Fighter II, and I've about played it into the ground during this past week! Oh, the decisions! :p
Oh, and speaking of Guile, I read that they were releasing SFIV Avatar gear! I'm TOTALLY going to have to get the Guile outfit for my avatar! :x
See:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BljqFbpQgWM
I read an interview with the developers talking about their Guile improvements, including shorter charge times... which is something I'd have to get used to. One thing I found odd was that I am 99% sure I already combo from a Sonic Boom into the spinning backfist. Somebody else commented on that and said they thought that he meant the spinning backfist returned as a cancel... but still, that won't change my game much since I already do it.
Here are the excerpts from the Guile discussion that I read that had me a little bit excited about Super:
Let's get right into it - please tell us about the adjustments for Guile.
Okada:
Since Street Fighter 2, Guile has been a character who can't do his special moves instantly, but with plenty of good normal moves. Since we wanted to work on that area in Super Street Fighter 4, he's the only character in all of the game who we've made adjustments to his charging time, and we've also made some big revisions to his normal moves.
Sano:
We also worked on his offensive priority quite a bit.
Okada:
We've also changed the functionality of the Guile High Kick (Down-Toward + Hard Kick), which many people didn't quite know how to use. In SF4 we intended for it to be an anti-air for when Guile doesn't have a charge, but in SSF4 we've added combo functionality to it.
Combo functionality... which means we can juggle after it?
Okada:
Yes. You can juggle after it with EX-Flash Kick, etc., and you can use it in combos. We've also adjusted his Spinning Back Knuckle (Backfist) so that you can combo it after a Sonic Boom. We've also made it so that his Reverse Spin Kick (Upside-Down Kick) makes low attacks miss more easily, and tried to make him more like his old self.
Tsukamoto:
We've also made some corrections to his combos.
Okada:
Yes, we have. The Guile players who gave it their all with his combos, they didn't really get enough reward for their efforts. That was the biggest thing about his combos, so in SSF4 we took that into consideration and we're adjusting the amount of damage his link combos do.
What about adjustments to his special moves?
Okada:
Guile is all about the Sonic Boom. But in SF4, when getting into a fireball fight he ended up on the losing side. That's not really Guile. Even though his Sonic Boom is a charge move, he's supposed to be the one to win in a fireball fight. So in order to get closer to that idea, we've made some slight adjustments to the charge time for Sonic Boom to make it stronger.
What type of move is his new ultra, Sonic Hurricane?
Okada:
As the Sonic Hurricane is a move based on being grounded, you can use it to pressure your opponent, do chip damage, or just keep your opponent in front of you and stop them from moving. We've also made it so that it can be used in combos. So then because of that, it does a little less damage than his Somersault Explosion Ultra I. So if you want to take off big chunks of damage, use Somersault Explosion, but if you want an all-purpose attack plan with lots of variations, then you can use Sonic Hurricane.
Sounds like Guile's been buffed up.
Okada:
Yeah, I think he's risen up to the middle class at least. We've also given him a fun new move, so if you can use it when you have a chance I'd be happy about that.
Tsukamoto:
Ah, this was a bit of a secret topic during Hakan's reveal trailer. Guile's sunglasses.
Sano:
If you enter in the command, Guile puts on the sunglasses. Do it again, and he takes them off. ... And that's really all it does (laughs). We also wanted to make the sunglasses cancellable.
Okada:
Jump Hard Kick, Standing Hard Punch, Sunglasses! (laughs) But this would just aggravate the player on the receiving end, so we gave up on it.

LOL! And I STILL have problems learning not to do crouching jabs to Ken after I've knocked him down! They ALWAYS shoryuken on wake up and it overpowers ANYTHING! Although I TRY to stop right before in hopes of tricking them into doing it and leaving them open after I block it, but I pretty much always do one to many and get NAILED! Ugh! Oh well!
Alright, I have a Street Fighter story! Guy made me MAD! So I'm playing online, and this guy signals for a "random match" by highlighting the question mark and sitting on it. I'll always accept this because it's fun, challenging, and also shows who the better Street Fighter players are. So I go pick random, and as soon as I do, he moves OFF of it and goes to select Zangief! I'm SCREAMING mad at this guy until I noticed I "randomly" picked Guile! So now I'm laughing on the inside and then laughing my @$$ off when I pummel the guy! It's one of the sweetest victories I've had! Gets what he deserves!

That vid was comedy gold. Even better that it was a tourney level Ryu (Valle) that made these hilarious mistakes. He would still murder me... (not that hard)
So EVO 2010 will be happening this weekend. Anybody heading to Caeser's Palace or gonna watch the stream?
HawkClay
07-06-2010, 08:20 PM
Yeah, I still laugh watching it! I HATE how easy it is to combo into an Ultra or Super with people like Ryu, Ken, Sagat... of course part of that is jealousy that Guile is near IMPOSSIBLE to link with since juggling only gives one hit with a super/ultra typically! Ugh! It would make so much SENSE! Oh well, enough venting.
So I played with Rufus a bit more, and despite me winning a few matches, I found that I truly suck with roll moves! I've tried the XBox controller with both the analog and the d-pad, and I've also tried the actual fight stick, and I have an even harder time with that! It may be the positioning of the stick on the table and it moving around on me making it so difficult, but I remember always preferring the d-pad of old to arcade joysticks, so maybe I'm just not very good with arcade sticks. I played one guy who SLAUGHTERED me with Akuma when I was Rufus... TWICE! Then I picked Guile and he didn't even know what hit him! :p That was fun! I HATE Akuma players more than Ken players! Sitting back throwing fireballs over and over! In the air, on the ground, red fireballs that can't be penetrated with an EX sonic boom or anything! UGH! I just have to do my best to work my way to them and rely on Akuma's absolutely HORRIBLE stamina to win, but if I can get in close and KEEP it close, then I can usually win! But if they keep their fireball game strong and keep it at a distance, then it's over. I have kicked players who do that when they try and play me again though! It's just ANNOYING and NOT FUN to play someone like that, even if it is a "part of the game." :|
Well, I'm sure as heck not going to EVO 2010, but I'd love to watch it. I never keep up with the tournaments or anything, and typically just watch videos on YouTube when they are posted there though. I may try and catch some streaming this weekend though! Thanks for the heads up! :)
