"What it comes down to is isolating and figuring out the issue, fixing the issue, and the more that we can fix the issue, and know it's fixed, then we're good going forward," said Greenberg. "We've put the worst behind us on this, but we know there are a few lagging systems, and so we want to take those and make it right."

Hopefully, Microsoft can move towards a brighter future with its more reliable Jasper (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/jasper) technology and leave its problematic hardware past behind. Those early RROD days were really (http://xbox.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/rumor-xbox-360s-defect-rate-was-as-high-as-68/), really (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/16/microsoft-sued-in-california-for-faulty-xbox-360s/), really (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/05/microsoft-expands-xbox-360-warranty-for-red-ring-sufferers/) bad and we welcome any improvement in hardware quality. If not for Microsoft's sake, at least for ours. Sending out RROD condolence cards (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/16/red-ring-of-death-condolence-cards/) is getting old.http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)Microsoft on RROD: The worst is behind us (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/microsoft-on-rrod-the-worst-is-behind-us/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 10:50:00 EST. I certainly hope this is true, but it also means I am probably going to have to buy another 360. Neither of my systems have the Jasper set-up so I am sure they are eventually going to RROD. :frown: Even though they both are still under the 3 year RROD guarantee, that will eventually expire.

Oh well it just gives me an excuse to spend some more money.

I had a dream last night that I was playing Puzzle Fighter on XBLA, when suddenly the screen dimmed to black, and a skull appeared on the screen, laughing at me. It pointed it's bony finger towards my 360 and the green circle turned into the RROD. What a nightmare!

My Elite actually bricked on me this past Sunday........ ugggghhhhh. But thankfully I have multiple 360's so my gaming was only interupted by about 20 minutes that it took to dig out and hook up my Halo 3 machine.

Now to call MS and tell them that they need to fix my machine.

More accurately, the majority of launch systems have been taken care of.....there should be a slow and steady trickle of later purchases coming in for repair now.

Well, they weren't really fixing the problem for a long time even after they started doing repairs. They were replacing faulty parts with parts that haven't become faulty yet. I fully expect my 360 to brick again, as it was fixed in 2007.

Case in point.... my elite will be in their grubby little hands soon!
