This game is fucking brilliant and a must own for any fans of old school 8-bit gaming. I've been playing it in whatever spare time I can muster since I got it, and I'm loving it.

Basically, its a game about you going back in time to the '80s and playing a bunch of old school games with the host guy of that Game Center CX show. The games they thought up are brilliant, and I could see them having been popular back in the '80s if they had been made then.

My favorites are the Haggle Man games. So far I've only unlocked the first two, but they are fucking fantastic. I already 1CC'd Haggle Man and I almost 1CC'd Haggle Man 2 (final boss got me, gah!).

Then there's a Galaga type game called Cosmic Gate. Its pretty cool, I've 1CC'd it, its cool. :)

And then there's a true shmup called Cosmic Gate that is quite good. Oddly enough, I HAVEN'T 1CC'd it yet. I got too obsessed with Haggle Man.

Then there's some racing game and a special version of the racing game, unfortunately, I'm not such a fan of those.

There's also an old school JRPG called Gaudia Quest. Oddly enough, thats where I'm at in the main game now (you have to unlock the games by completing challenges in them) and... I'm actually losing interest in it surprisingly. Just not in an old school JRPG mood I guess.

After that there will be Haggle Man 3... which I NEED! :p

Anyways, the mood of the game is brilliant. The kid you play games with keeps coming around with magazines, and reading those actually got me hyped for Haggle Man 2's "release" (for me to unlock it, that is)in game. And I almost want to call Tomato a brilliant shmup developer.

Anyways, damn good game, get it if you have a DS and are an old school gamer.

Too many shmups for my liking, but might check it out anyways.

Only 2 of the games are shmups. Out of like 8.

I haven't played to the RPG yet but everything so far, especially Haggle Man, has been good (although Cosmic Gate's a little too derivative).

I've been interested in this. I'll have to track it down when I have some spare cash.

Sounded like 4 from his description, but I guess if it is only 2 . . .

Cosmic Gate is a galaga-style shmup, and Star Prince is a Compile-ish shmup. That's it. The first two Haggleman games are like... vaguely Flicky-esque platformers (small infinitely looping levels), two racing games (that are basically the same games), an RPG, and then the finale, an awesome ninja platformer made by the creator of the NES Ninja Gaiden games.

Ok, im sold. Ill pick it up at some point. I've mostly been playing Phantasy Star Collection on my DS, but I need to go back and phinish PW3 first.

EDIT: LMAO, I can't believe I spelled finish that way.

Too much Phantasy Star imo.

Interesting. I'm totally looking forward to that game. Do you know his name? I wonder if he worked on Star Force given that's a Tecmo/Tehkan game and it seems to be the main inspiration for Star Prince.

His real name is Hideo Yoshizawa, but back int he 8-bit era he went by Sakurazaki. He's a Namco guy for many years, the main dude behind Klonoa and Mr. Driller. Namco produced the Japanese version of Game Center CX, so I guess it made sense.

Haggle Man 1 and 2 aren't infinite, they each loop once. Haggle Man 2 even has a final boss fight.

Anyways, irony:
I can't unlock Haggle Man 3 because Guadia Quest (the classic JRPG) is boring me to death.

I'm on Guadia Quest, too. I like that they got the 8-bit RPG vibe down yet made it a bit more accessible with its easy warping to locations and the auto-battle option but I'm still not really in the mood to play it. I want to skip to Haggle Man 3.

I mean the levels repeat horizontally like running through the flintstones house.

Ah, gotcha.

I actually finished the challenges in Gaudia Quest tonight. Almost done with Haggle Man 3. Incidentally, I don't like Haggle Man 3 anywhere near as much as I enjoyed the first two... so whatever. :p Its still neat though.

Can't wait for the sequel. :)

Great game, better show. The fansubs are online, they are a must see for anyone who grew up on the nes and snes.

I would like to correct myself on this, by the way. I was given some misinformation. Yoshizawa is a producer in the handheld division of Namco, but he's not credited in this game, (at least not in the American version).
