Default Sonic the hedgehog 2 HD Alpha

    anybody try it?

Mirror 2 seems to be faster (half a meg a sec+/- as opposed to 50 kbs). Didn't try the torrent.

Seems pretty sweet to me. Animation is nice and smooth and the characters don't look too bad. Sonic's head is a little too wide to me, but that's minor.

Sega still makes good games, you just don't play them

Sorry, gave the blog link and not the download page:

    http://www.s2hd.com/

Did anybody give it a shot after finding the link?

Imperfect framerate and brutal load times kind of kill some of the magic for me. Looks nice enough though, I'm glad they added extra animation since low res pixel animations tend to lose some of their fluidity at high resolutions.

Yeah, the extra animations are definitely nice. Some of it still looks a little awkward comparitively, but I think they did a great job not making it looks like an HD flash animation game.

It didn't run great for you? Mine seemed pretty solid. Both the 32 and 64-bit'ers load immediately for me, almost completely solid framerate with a couple of extremely slight hiccups (like a millisecond) where I noticed a quick dip on vertical scrolls up or down when Sonic is moving fast.

Your PC is pretty decent, no?

Decent enough. I'm on windows XP still though so maybe that's a factor.

Yeah man, I played it both versions and I really liked it. The music was great, liked watching teh trees just bob back and forth and so on. I was hoping to see the bonus stage lol but no big deal
